Entrepreneur Forum in Off Topic / Off Topic Cleanup

Sythe is a huge marketplace with multiple businesses that were built from the ground up, and these businesses vary greatly in the digital world from in-game sales to graphical work, and it's an absolutely amazing spectacle. Talking about business and entrepreneurship and strategy is something that interests me greatly, and I feel like it is something that would be of great help to people on here that are looking at starting their own business whether digitally or in real life.

 

Isnt the market discussions section for this? Or come under this?

Intriguing, I suggested a restructure for cdt, to better help the community.. nobody really cared...? Or do you mean on a bigger scale?

 

My suggestion, @Sythe , would be to place the forum between Cryptocurrency and Technology. If I can think of any subforums for the Entrepreneur forum, I'll PM you the suggestions.

If my understanding is correct, the "market" the forum references would be the digital game market, how the GP fluctuates, providers like Sythe, PA, etc.

 

I think Oculus Rift should be moved under the Technology forum.

I completely detest having the entrepreneur forum under market discussions. It's not going to solely focus on building a business in the sythe market. It's going to be about discussing and gaining advice from people who have built their own businesses to pass on those tactics.

On another note, why do I feel like you're hijacking my thread to get Sythe's attention?

 

Ok misunderstood; if off-topic has a clean up, then it would be ok to stick another forum in.

Apologies, I can just see sythe wants abit of a clean up. I am suggesting a few other peoples views on off-topic current forums as well. Only trying to better the community.

 

I'm just saying that this topic should be about the suggestion. Anything else should be dealt with via PM. Frankly, I want to see this suggestion implemented as its own standalone forum in the offtopic section. Yes, it could use cleanup, but the only cleanup there that I see it needs is for the Virtual Reality stuff to fall under Technology. Real world business entrepreneuring is something that should standalone. Sure, people who have created digital businesses could throw their two cents in about how they started their business and how that's been for them, but asking stuff about creating one's own business should have its own place, especially if it is in regards to a possible business that may not even end up as part of the Sythe community.

 

Yes, I like OP's suggestion especially since DNT members can participate there.

 

The only reason I suggested under market discussions, is purely because DNT shouldn't be allowed to participate in market related things. So if you have a forum which houses onsite and offsite businesses it will cause a conflict.

Scenario1; So I'm here to discuss my business I just started on sythe, and I post in this new offtopic section, I then get advice from Bus, who in the past I know would love to talk and sell business ideas. But he isn't allowed to be apart of the market. DNT conflict

If this section was under Market Discussions, DNT users could wokr towards that, although i did misunderstand your need or views on this specific forum, so if this is created under off-topic, what would be the result of DNt users? Have a sub-forum for onsite business which they can't see? No? Why would you put a sub forum in at the new stages?

 

Well having a forum for entrepreneurship of online business would defeat the concept of the entire idea. The stipulation of DNT is linked to them not being allowed to trade. They can message on whatever they want (I think, check me @Sythe ) in the Off Topic section so long as they don't try to initiate trades such as buying or suggesting the sale of bitcoin in the Cryptocurrency forum. It's not going to hurt having people who are DNT participate in this forum, especially since we have great people like @Kiro whose job it is to monitor that section for it.

DNT means non-market user. As far as I'm aware they cant participate in Market discussions, because that further houses job listings. So if entrepreneur forum had both off-site (irl) and on site business endeavors, there will be a conflict of interests with DNT. Also i don't understand why we should put pressure on Kiro or off-topic mods to deal with DNT members, if their not allowed apart of the market why would they be allowed apart of discussions where market is involved (partly from onsite). Maybe I have the wrong concept of Market Discussions; but is it specific to sythe market, don't see why it should be. It isn't actually. Job listings have people with homework businesses, essay writing services. These are for sythe users, but their irl needs. So ? To me it would be best placed under Market Discussions.

 

If your going to cut DNT out of the forum you might aswell not add it is my view point.

DNT members now make up what I'd say is(33-50%) of the community(compared to the total poll votes I estimate as the community), I'd guess there's 30-60 DNT members and that # will only grow.

IF you add a forum that's for discussion like this and then cut out the DNT, your basically crippling that forum a great deal.

Does it belong where DNT can access? I don't know, I'm just saying if your going to cut DNT out specifically, you probably shouldn't even add it because your just drastically limiting the activity of said forum.

That's just my 2 cents.

 

I'm gonna have to agree with Bus here. Just because they have a DNT doesn't mean they don't have a business sense.

Yeah. The Technology section is cluttered with miscellaneous categories, and I believe more sub-sections for a better organization would be an excellent idea.

I suggested it a while back, but there wasn't an apparent acceptance/decline on the thread. I believe the biggest hump was deciding what sub-sections to put under the Technology section.

Right now, I think that this layout might work:

Technology
>Hardware
>Software
>Programming
>Virtual Reality

The main Technology section could be for miscellaneous questions and debates.
The Hardware sub-section could cover repair issues, installations, etc.
The Software sub-section could cover software upgrades and diagnostics.
The Virtual Reality sub-section could include the virtual reality graveyard that is currently a main section.

By the way, I would like to re-state that the Technology section is the 4th largest section within Off-Topic without any organization.

I'm in support for the adding of the Entrepreneur section.

 

Crypto currency could be a sub topic in a "real-world business and finance" section and remove gambling
