    Entering the Military.

This is for the users who are thinking of enlisting in the United States Military.

First you need to contact a recruiter. Make sure you know which branch and career field you would like to go in to.

Once you meet with your recruiter you will be given a time to take the practice ASVAB test. To take the full ASVAB test, your recruiter will take you to MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station).

Your time at MEPS will consist of 2 days.

    1. Taking the ASVAB test.
This test will basically decide what you are going to do in the service. The ASVAB is about a 200 multiple choice question test divided in to 10 categories.

    - General Science - can be anywhere from Astronomy to Geology. All of the questions I got were about plants.
    - Math - really basic.
    - Word Knowledge - basically they want to see if you can speak and use English properly.
    - Reading - locating information
    - More math
    - Electronics - computers and electrical
    - Automechanics - asks about how cars work
    - Basic mechanics
    - Assembling objects - puzzels (this is the hardest part...)

The scores on the ASVAB range from 0-99:
90-99 - You have the ability to do anything you desire.
70-89 - Above average scores that give great opportunites.
40-69 - Average scores. Limited acess to careers.
    Below 40 - Good luck...

    Day 2
After waking up at 4AM in a 5 star hotel you will be shuttled on a bus back to the MEPS center to have interviews. This day takes FOREVER (up to 10 hours)

You will be with about 100 other people that are entering the military with you. This day consists of Hearing tests, eye test, blood tests, health tests, health history, drug tests, and physical conditioning.

Hearing - you put on earphones and have to be able to distinguish sounds by pressing on a button. I though it was a game show and pressed every time I ehard anything. And I passed.
Eye - Vision clearness tests; like the ones at the BMV. Color blindness testing. Hard to explain, just google it. They also give you depth perception tests.
Blood - they check for diseases n stuff.
Health - you get naked and a doctor examines every part of you. And I mean EVERY PART.
Drug - take a piss test. Just drink a lot of water if you have something to worry about. There are ways to get around it if you fail too (from what I hear)
Conditioning - You get weighed and find out your max weight. Then you get to have a mock gym class.

This pretty much wraps it up. After finishing High School you get to go to boot camp. And that's another story...

I'm in the military; I know the information I quoted is correct. Wikipedia isn't as bad as everyone thinks it is.

Besides, all I listed were abbreviations. The same information can be found on http://www.asvabprogram.com/

10 hour sessions at the most. If you were there for 3 days I'm sure you would have stayed at the hotel during the nights.

I only had to be there for 2 days; I'm not sure how it is in other states/branches.
