1) Sing For The Moment
This song is everything I love about Eminem. First off, the beat is straight fire. The lyrical content on this song is second to none. There's no bullshit, he just tells it exactly how it is and absolutely kills it. This was on 'The Eminem Show' which is widely considered his best album and also features on 'Curtain Call' which was a greatest hits. There are many songs that could be considered Eminem's best, but I think this sums up exactly what he's about and captures his lyrical talent perfectly.
2) Mockingbird
For a long time this was my favorite song, no questions asked. He takes his emotion and puts it straight into the song. The best about it is it gives us an insight into how it all unfolded for him and how he feels it impacted on his daughter(s). The beat was produced by Eminem himself and is still one of my favorite beats. This is the rap I want, straight truth and lyrics, none of that bullshit trying to be hard, it's not even good music.
3) Beautiful
I think to full appreciate this song, you need to have been a die hard fan during 2000 - 2004 when he disappeared. We were left wanting and we waited 5 years for Relapse. To be honest, if this song wasn't on Relapse, the album would have been a total let down. This song was partially written while he was in rehab and was later finished once he was out and is all about what it felt like for him to be there. How he secluded himself and wanted to give up rap and fame and just be a normal person.
4) 25 to Life
Straight off his latest installment, Recovery. This was the first song I heard and I knew it was first class. After listening to the whole album, I still maintain the opinion that this is the best song on the album and made it into my top 5. After rapping for 25 years, he reflects on how the rap game treated him. I love this song for the lyrics. I don't love the beat, I think it's fitting. Listening and remember what Eminem did for the game and thinking what it did for him, it hardly seems fair.
5) Lose Yourself
I couldn't leave it off. This song took his already rising rap status and launched him onto a whole new level. It stayed at number 1 on the charts for 12 weeks and everywhere you went, you could hear it. He literally convinced the whole world to lose themselves in the music and I loved it. For someone who is hated by many (Generally the older populous) had a song that majority of people could AT LEAST bump their heads to. Famous sports stars state that they use this song as pump up before games. It's a classic.
