I know he's pretty well know but only today have I actually sat down and decided to listen to some Eminem songs.. Usually I prefer rock, bit of metal, bands like My Chemical Romance, A Day to Remember etc but some of Eminems genius, even to me, someone brought up never really listening to that style of music. Just wow is all I have to say. The lyrics make so much sense in different situations I can put myself in. He writes what he wants, you can tell. But he puts real thought into it. I know there's probably plenty more Eminem threads but I just thought I'd share this Favourite song atm (although I haven't listened to them all) has to be either Stan or I'm A Soldier.
He is absolutely amazing in everything he does. He raps about whatever the fuck he wants and feels and does it beautifully.
i love all of his songs, but i think his "slim shady" songs are kind of immature but when hes serious he can make an amazing song
There is always a meaning towards his songs whereas all the mainstream rappers only rap about pussy and weed.
You're kidding right? The "immature" Slim Shady was actually Eminem's prime in rapping. That's what made him Slim.
Fully agreed. idk what else to say besides eminem is godlike and fav song is when im gone its just so emotional and has such sick flow
It's an alter-ego, it's not him, that's the point. I agree.. many people who listen to rock absolutely love Eminem as well.. you wouldn't think Rap and Rock would both be liked by one person but when it's Eminem anything is possible.
I miss the old Eminem. His lyrics were darker than compared to his pop shit now. During the 1990's through early 2000's, IMO Eminem was at his prime.
I agree with this right here. He started going hard, and just got softer over time. Eminem raps to be the next big hit. And I get it, they're people like you and me and they have their struggles. But they get bank off this, and they tell stories of lives they don't live (Wayne's fantasies of getting all this money when all he does is produce the same whack ass shit). The whole reason the mainstream is considered watered down is because it's beat-based and hype-based music. Not lyrics. I personally think "Recovery" just fit the theme of 'look at me, I'm on a pedestal of going through something a lot of people do every day', only difference is is that he got famous for putting that on a beat. That raw emotion that he released when he was using Slim as an alter-ego. It just slowly went away.
Truly agree. I did hear some of his new stuff and it's really isn't the same. I mean he is rapping with Rihanna? and others out there. Didn't he say he was going to retire anyway? That's what I remembered hearing before Recovery and the name change came out. Could have been just a rumor though.
1. Infinite 2. Marshall Mathers LP / Eminem show 3. Slim shady LP/EP 4. Relapse / Encore 5. Recovery 6. Refill 7. Re-up (This was garbage other than no apologies.)
Do you guys REALLY listen to the lyrics, if you believe that he's got "worse"? His stuff is... kind of deeper now. Slim Shady was definitely his prime. My favourite was "Purple Hills"
Yeah Eminem is like the best his new albums are meh.. but his old ones like infinite, the slim shady ep, basicly everything before curtain calls are Beast My Fav will have to be in between Low,Down,Dirty,Say Goodbye to hollywood,Square dance,or white america, i cant choose lol.
I copped the Marshall Mathers LP and love it, I can pretty much listen to that whole album all the way through without skipping anything, but my favourite song by him (D12) is Purple Pills, it's awesome. I used to not even like him that much but I'm feeling him a lot more now.
Even his older material is genious, his newer stuff however, is amazing. He has tha best metaphors out. Ive loved him since about 1998.
