Ebay Buyer Trying To Scam?

sold my ps3 almost a week ago, and he says due to money trouble he is going to have to refuse the package. He sent me this.

The Buyer:
I hate to do this to you man but my new bank is really dicking me with my money. Apparently with new customers they hold checks longer than usual. I was going to be fine but then they extended the hold for no apparent reason an extra week. Needless to say, I'm going to have to refuse the package because I have bills to pay. I apologize for the troubles man, I'll kick you $20 for the hassle of having to relist.

Me:
I apologize for your inconvenience. Not knowing what to do I contacted Ebay who advised the transaction was complete and that a refund does not have to be issued. If you refuse the package, it will still be another 7-10 days before you get your refund. It will take that long to get the package back here. I apologize but let me know what you are going to do.


My Question To You:
Ebay told me i didn't have to refund the money but if he refuses the package, or doest can he get the money back?

 

If he payed with PayPal, you're fine. Ebay offers seller protection.

You really shouldn't refund until you receive the PS3 back.

 

Okay thanks, just needed someone to let me know. I have no intentions on giving him a refund even if he does send it back because a deal is a deal. If he sends it back that just means i'll have 400usd and my console back

 

If he sends it back, and you don't refund, then there might be a problem. Dunno, you'd have to ask PayPal on that one, but I'm pretty sure you'll have to refund him if you get the console back, at least partially.

 

Ebay told me that i dont have to issue a refund at all because the deal has already been completed, i sent the console and i received money. If he sends it back its his own fault.

 

Well then, I guess just go by what they said. He may put a dispute in on the 400 if he sends the console back, but I think in the end you'll be fine.

 

Considering my luck i doubt i will even get the console back and will probably be -400 in the red if he files a dispute.

 

If he doesn't ship it back, then all you have to do is call paypal and provide the tracking number that you sent the consul out/some proof that he received it, and you'll win the dispute, so everything will be fine on that.
