Implied threat is still a threat even with a gun the threat of him shooting you is implied from the gun and in both cases threat is still present, obviously a lawyer could fight it but that's not the point because a really good lawyer could get you out of a bank robbery job where you had a gun. The point is you would still be charged with armed robbery, writing it on a note is no different than saying it the only real difference is you are giving them a note with your writing where otherwise you would have to prove you didn't say the sentence which is far easier than proving you didn't write the note to the banker.

 

You can only get armed robbery with a gun or pretending you have one. Just because tellers are supposed to assume you're armed and dangerous doesn't mean that's how it goes down in court.

 

Looks like it has to be a dangerous weapon according to American law, I guess with a note you would only receive aggravated robbery it would still be 4 to 15 years, I guess its better than 6 to 30. With that note you would be implying danger and even pretending to have or the person believing you have a weapon would still land you an aggravated robbery charge.

 

Yes, aggravated robbery would be likely. With cases like this it would be very up in the air with the Judge/jury/lawyers involved.

 

My mom used to work at a bank. She said if anyone came in asking for money with a note with or without a gun to give it to them and wait until they are a safe distance away and then call the police.
