Drinking age - 18 or 21?

I would say 21 because 18 year olds can't hack it, they drink too much and they just cause havoc thinking their "hard" when their just drunk fags who don't know whens enough.

 

It should stay 21. Alcohol can damage the brain very effective when the brain is still growing. Meaning you're still growing till the age of 21. When you're full grown,the damage will still be effective but much lesser. At the age of 21 most people already have a job and are responsible for many things. A job , car , tax and so on. I dont see them getting drunk and do unresponsible things. Meanwhile here in the Netherlands you can buy it at a age of 16 (low alcohol percentage drinks) and strong alcohol drinks at a age of 18. Its ridiculous to see childeren of 16 years old getting drunk seeing their brains getting damaged every single sip they take.

 

18. Even if it was 21, it wouldn't stop people from drinking. Why go through all the hassle?...

 

In my opinion, the legal drinking age in the United States should be 18. As being 18 years of age, you are now classified as an adult and must obliged, unwillingly under new, under set laws; which in most cases results to prison, torture, and death.

 

How is not letting them drink going to teach them when its enough?

18, maybe even younger. The United States has one of the highest drinking ages in the world, and let's be honest, it's not stopping anyone from drinking underage.

 

I think that the Legal drinking age should be 18 BECAUSE
if a kid wants to drink he/she will before they are 21 no matter what and they do anyways which just gets them into all sorts of trouble and it cant be monitored because they have to go under the table instead of drink legally.
Although it makes sense that it should be 21 or even higher, the simple fact is that government cant control if people drink under the age very well or not so it should be lowered to 18 because it is a reasonable age and people already drink at that age anyways, and making it legal will protect people more than it will hurt them. plus your an adult at 18 anyways and what you choose to do with your body for example tobacco which in my opinion is worse for you...just doesn't make sense.

Prohibition has been show to be completely ineffective and a complete waste of time and people frequently break current drinking laws long before 18 even. Saying that at 18 you are irresponsible with alcohol yet allowing someone to go kill people for your country is the ultimate hypocrisy. TBH I think it should be like smoking can't buy till 18 but can use at 16, which is basically what occurs anyways.

 

In sweden, it's like thid:
<2,25% = no age
2,25-3,5 = 18
>3,5% = 20

however, it's never a problem to get someone to buy for you, i think it should be a straight line at 18.

 

In Denmark you can drink whenever you feel like it. There's no law regarding that. But you have to be 16 years or older to buy alchol with 16.5% or less in it. Everything above that is 18+, but I can easily buy some and share it with my little brother who is like 10

 

I am more than likely repeating something that has already been said, so excuse me but I havn't the patience to read through every post!

here in the UK it is legal to drink at 18. If it were bumped up to 21, people may start drinking before the legal age but bumping it to 21 may effect how early people do start drinking. There are people as young as 8 here in the UK that get drunk. Yes I Said 8. I started drinking at around 14, Just some beer round at a friends house. Sure as hell didn't do me any favours and I doubt it did my body any favours.

 

In the netherlands its 16. Or for the real stuff you need to be 18 I think.

In some other country's I think its pretty messed up.
