Nope. I just made up this cool story because I wanted people to say my story is cool and then call me bro.

It's kind of sad that after everyone posting you still cant figure this scam out. It is not complex at all and this can and does happen to every trusted member.

Say you are selling gold, the scammer (who already has a email similar to the trusted member he is pretending to be) adds you on msn, and adds the trusted member on another random email (pretending to be YOU).

All they do is pretend like they are going to sell the gold to the trusted member etc... when you ask for a pm, the scammer then asks for a pm from the trusted member and tells him to pm your sythe name.

There you have it. You just got a pm from the trusted member but he was never actually involved or aware of what was happening. Make sure they pm you their email that they are talking to you on and make sure it is the same!

I made a gold selling thread when Viou went offline for a minute because I thought he went away. He PMed me before I made the thread.

Exactly, the only way to be scammed is to be fooled. If you want to make sure, just PM each other like "[email protected] talking to [email protected]" Visa Versa.

Him showing his rich's after you traded him doesn't make a difference, if anything, it proves you trusted someone who was seemingly poor with your 300m to begin with.

And you dont make any sense. Exactly what PantDevil said, the only way to be scammed, is to fall for it yourself, making it your fault.

No, it was not my fault. It was the scammers fault. If he didn't decide to scam me I would have my $275.
Ever wondered why do the scammers get banned instead of the people getting scammed?
    Hmm... Really strange.

Unlucky, partly your fault, although from what I can see, the person who PM'd you wasn't intending a scam.

So you're saying trust no one? I know ANYONE can scam, ranks don't matter but it's way less likely for them to scam.

He was also on msn with Viou pretending to be a buyer/seller, and he most likely asked Viou to send him a pm to verify. Instead of telling Viou his Sythe name for the pm, he told him your Sythe name.

Always make sure you get the pm to state the exact details of the transaction, and the people/msn's involved. And save yourself the frustration, use an OMM.

Something similar to this happened to me in my early days of Sythe, except it was for a much smaller sum.

True, Viou could have set this up himself, but I doubt that.

    Shit happens.
