Doing better when it comes to education.

    Hello Sythe adventurers,
Pigbow here with his first ever user submitted guide.

Here I will be explaining how to do better while in School/At home studying.
After most of you read this, I'm guessing your going to do it for one or two days, three days maximum. So what I'm going to do is, start from the very base.

    ~Motivation~
Without motivation, no one can actually achieve something, can they?
To start off, you people want those 4.0 GPA's and the straight A's, but you do it why, only because your parents/relatives force you to want them.
If you think of it in a different way, like this "I want to be an engineer when i grow older, so I should excel in Mathematics". Not "I want my grades to be straight A's, because my parents will be disappointed in me if i don't".
See this is why most students are Failing or Satisfactory.
After awhile children whose parents are strict about grades, will start to do bad just to angry their parents. It could be for any reason, most of the time it is Blackmailing"If you don't get me this game, I'll fail my biology test".
I know most of you don't do this, but it's just to show you why motivation matters.
You have to think "Why?" It should be you to decide, no one else.

    Example of Good Thinking-
"Come on, if I really want to become a doctor, I should be studying for my biology test right now, not on www.sythe.org.

    Example of Bad Thinking-
"Wow, 3 CHAPTERS to study, wow it's okay my parent's will let it go this time, I'll just tell them 2/3 of my class failed anyways.

    ~Studying with friends~

This is something I'd personally recommend, since all my friends like to study.

Studying with friends helps in many ways.
If you are studying with 3 or more friends, and you don't know an answer, there's a great chance one of your friends would know it.

Also, you can quiz each other, where one person asks another, this way you'll get to know your material better.

Although studying with friends may seem fun, it also has it's downsides.

One of your friends may go, "I'm bored let's do this later". You will join.

If one of your friends is not as well as you in that particular subject, or what ever you're studying. He may delay you.

    ~Asking Questions~

Make sure you ask questions, where ever you are.

If you're at school, even if it's the smallest possible thing you don't understand, it WILL affect you, because later on, you build on that. Just like Cancer.

Keep an encyclopedia/dictionary with you at all times, in case no one can answer your questions.

Try asking family members, maybe about their opinions, or their personal experience with a certain subject, and build off of that.

    ~Studying at home~

Let's start off with the Physical requirements you're going to need to help you study better at home.

You should be taking 5 - 10 minute breaks while you study, studying too much would cause you to get bored/restless.

It would also help if you didn't eat a big meal before studying, small snacks would be better, eating a big meal would end in you falling asleep :p

Drink lots of water, it helps when your sleepy, Caffeine also works however it causes anxiety, so drink it moderately.

Well sized desk, No studying on your kitchen table/couch/bed. I would suggest one with a place to roll your chair in, so you won't strain your back while studying. I suggest L shaped desks, since you can move around easily while sitting on a computer chair. Clears your desk more as well.

This is how it would look like-

Normal desks still work , but I would prefer the L shaped ones. Normal desks are still 100X better then studying on your couch, bed, kitchen table.

This would be an example of a normal desk.

Comfortable Seat, No antique chairs that make your back hurt when you're bending over for 1+ hour(s)

Bright lamp, used to see easier, which helps concentration.

    Okay, let's move on.
Most people around the world, study, but don't know how to study.

What my teachers tell me to do is,

Have an order, on how you do your homework.

    I do it like this,

    First>Last.
    Hard written assignments>Easy written assignments.

Hard tests to study for>Easy tests to study for.
Make sure when studying for your test, you study at least 3 days before the test date, if you study on the last night, it would be no surprise if you do bad.Study small increments, day by day, and review it on the last day.

Also another tactic, my teachers have told me is the "RRW" method.
Read, In this case you read over the chapter you have to study for the test, just reading.
Recite, Here you recite to yourself what you just read.
Write, Jot down as many things as you can remember from what you just Read and Recited.

Lastly review what you just did and you should be fine.

    ~Studying at School~

Studying at school is the easiest part to this,
the key to doing well, is to Listen.

Don't concentrate so hard, or you'll zone out definitely.

Just listen, some concentration is needed however.

Try to block everything else out when the teacher is explaining, it will help a lot.

If you are still have problems, you might want to contact your teacher about it when she is free. I'm sure most teachers will re-explain the topic a million times until you understand it.

Don't be shy, ask, it won't hurt.

Also, ignore all the ignorant kids calling you "nerd" "go study" etc. When you grow up to be a millionaire, you'll look down to them and laugh.

Instead befriend kids who like to have competition while studying, however too much competition can be bad at some point.

Things you should be doing while attending class.

I really like the topic of this guide. Let's start with the positives of this guide and move on to some things you can improve.

First off, you've done an okay job with the basic content of the guide. You've made it pretty simple and went straight to the point. I also like the fact that you cited some examples of what you shouldn't do to improve your education. Good job including pictures, as well.

Now, there are a few things that are lacking in this guide. First off, the content. I mentioned above that the content was basic and straight to the point, but with a topic as broad as this one, you should definitely by striving to include as much detail as you can. The first few pictures on here are centered while the rest of them are on the left side. You should most likely be keeping them on the left. You can also try putting more spacing between your phrases and examples. Basically, with more effort comes more content and information.

You're at a great start right now, but it's just lacking a few things. Let me know when you've fixed up some things, and PM me so I can re-critique your guide. Good luck, man.

You're still lacking the content that should be included in this guide. For most of your examples, you just have one, small sentence about it. Try thoroughly explaining more and citing more examples.

Doing better when it comes to education.

Hey Pigbow. You requested that I look at your two current guides, so here it goes! My information will (As usual) be split into two sections.

    Information:
As Hahanerd stated above, it's an excellent Guide Topic choice. I've only seen one other guide which was anything like this so you had a real chance to show what skills have have, and I think you did an OK job. The three subsections you have there are good, but you needed a lot more information. Motivation and Studying (White important) I'm sure aren't enough on there own to do better at work/education. I'm sure you can think of a little more. Next, some of your information is a little...obvious. I reckon you could have stretched it a little more.

    Formatting:
You have some good pictures in your guide, helping the reader to understand the guide more, etc. However the guide itself doesn't look very appealing. No title, plain text and several pictures in a row are unappealing. Some use of centering, bullet points and different fonts could have made the guide more appealing.

Overall, it's an OK effort for your first guide.
