CDT add ons

So everyone regularly talks about how Sythe is declining and how we have to find new ways to bring in traffic. What if we made mini Community Development Teams for each sections. For example LoL, WoW , as well as other games and obviously there could be more. They wouldn't have perms to anything just a mini rank solidifying which section they are for. Than their jobs would be to host contests and keep discussions going within the section. Obviously you would want people whom are active in that section. That way you're bringing traffic and discussions into all parts of the site it's part of their responsibility to help make it active. Would take less pressure off of the CDT within itself and the staff and it would get more people involved.

 

I wouldnt suggest having multiple "mini cdt teams"

If not already done, they themselves should try to help out a specific section like Blade has done with gaming general.

 

First problem: Find people in these sections who'll do it
Second problem: Get them to stay active and host actual successful events

The CDT used to be split up but it's more effective to all band together

 

@ Roary is there something we could use an application process for each section? Because CTD is an application process anyway. So that's who you would find people to do it.

 

I think its better if the CDT stays as a whole group; Then at least we know everyone is on the same page about what's going on, and they can all have their own say towards events.

 

Well everyone would still be able to stay on the same page would they not? You would still be part of the CTD discussions.

 

And if they do not? Sounds like a forced chore.

 

That's something sectional moderators could do, but I guess they are too lazy.

 

It's not a chore if someone is putting an application in for it. That therefore means they have interest in doing it.

Well it's not happening. Attention is drawn else where and would be a way for more community members to get involved. Isn't that the point to have something more than just Runescape. Once Runescape goes which no one honestly knows when that will be. There are plenty of other MMOs to which a community could be based off of. Being well rounded is a good thing.

 

I'm actually all for this. If you can find people who are willing to go out of their way to do it, feel free imo. You know you can already run your own contests and events and stuff...

 

Yeah but you have to have approval if I am not mistaken. These would be people who basically volunteer to help make a section better by keeping things going and hold specific contests. Could be an application process it may fail miserable but it's attempt to get the soul purpose of the forums Runescape.

 

Its a lot harder to put in to practice I assure you. So IMO we should just have one big team that aims to hit as many games as we can.

Splitting it up and having separate teams would be very hard to motivate and manage.

 

I don't think we'd see any change if they divided themselves into section teams. Instead I think the real change would come from more people participating/being admitted in the community development teams.

Also, people are absolutely free to run their own contests... nobody needs approval or anything (as far as I know).

 

This in my eyes is unnecessary. If people truly want to see their frequented sections flourish, they can simply create discussions/events themselves. They don't need to be part of a "mini cdt" team in order to give them the incentive to do this.

 

There are already resources available in place which support your "mini CDT" suggestion. All that's required is you (and others) to be community-active member in a section of your choice. Miniranks are automatically granted to those active in certain subsections and we (the staff) are always supportive of those who wish to organize and host events for the better of the community.

If you think a section is dying that you feel should be more active, do your part in participating and be a voice in the community.
