Does it make you a nerd to spend money on runescape?

If I work a 6 hour shift I earn around £70, which will buy me an account which'll take around a year to train up etc myself.


So the way I see it, paying 6 hours of work for an account that'll take around a year is worth it.


However, I don't because the whole point for me is to train it up..

 

time is money so when your buying a account off somebody thats worked years on it then it all adds up

 

I've read about the first page of this thread and I think I've come to the conclusion that yes, it is nerdy (not a bad thing though...) because you CAN have fun of an account that isn't fully maxed out and beasted. Example, pking. I make pkers but they arn't all maxed out. I just make then and then make another when i'm bored. Purely fun (pking might not be your thing but that's just an example)

Spending that much money on a game and the possibility of getting scammed might be nerdy. Smaller amounts not really. But at the same time I feel it's not nerdy because you're not spending a few years staring at a screen to get those stats.
So, don't really have an opinion about it.

 

Also isn't the fact that you WANT to play runescape nerdy in the first place?

 

Spending is spending, amount shouldn't matter. If you've been paying for Runescape since like 2005, that's $5.95 recurring subscription for 1 month. If you do that for 1 total year, that's $71.40. Multiply that by 4 years = $285.60. That's the bare minimum. If you want to spend money, then it's what you want to do with it.

If it's your money, do whatever you want with it. People go pay hookers and give them a shit load of money to give them happy time... Does that make them a loser if they can't get it any other way? Maybe, but it's what you want to do with your money.

 

Honestly NO. Everyone has a hobby such as fishing, motorbikes, cars etc. Why is it that if Runescape is your hobby then your a nerd for spending money on it, while if cars are your hobby then your not a nerd?

Who made these nerd or not nerd guidelines? Stop being so damn narrow minded people.

I don't think it makes you a nerd because, a lot of my friends play RS and there pretty cool. If you have the money and dont really mind spending it.. and you want to enjoy the game more.. then go ahead. It doesnt make you nerdy.

Yeah, I mean if your using up money that can buy you food. And your starving just to get some pixels... then that does make you pretty nerdy

But if your in high school with a job and one day of working will buy you an account.. why not?

 

Why would it make you nerdy? It's pretty much the same as buying games for an xbox or ps3, it's just basically like 'supporting' your hobby or something like that, it might be a waste of money, but how in ANY way does it make you nerdy ... someone define the meaning of nerd/y please? And please don't say it's people who spend hours playing runescape, etc.
