Does it make you a nerd to spend money on runescape?

QQ Bloody QQ - It means I have no life if I am not willing to spend thousands of hours on a game to create an account I want? It's because I have a life that I have a limited time to play the game and don't want to spend my time doing things I don't like.

tofurocks - People are allowed an opinion =p. But yes I agree with you if there was something I wanted more I probably wouldn't have spent this money on an account. If however something in the future pops up that I want more I can sell it.

Agreed - people keeps arguing with "it's nerdy to spend £1250 on a game", still it's more nerdy to spend thousands of hours to get a good Runescape account when you can get one in 80 hours.

 

Given the amount of money you spent, I wouldn't say nerdy, I would say absurd. I mean, if you were to spend 50 dollars on Runescape, so what? I've spent 50 bucks on Runescape, and it doesn't make me any more nerdy. But over 1000? That's pushing it a bit.

If it makes you happy in the way that buying something in real life makes another person happy, it's not.

 

I think it has something to do with the amount of money that you spend on it. Like I bought some scripts from rsbots.net recently, they were like 5-7 dollars a piece. I really don't see it as that nerdy because I spent the money to spend less time behind the screen doing the menial tasks while still enjoying the game to it's fullest.

 

I think it makes you less of a nerd so your not wasting your time getting all the shit.

 

I voted no but only to an extreme. In my opinion over $300 on runescape is extreme. We spend as much on xbox/ps3/wii and so how is runescape different?

 

Well if I bought 800m from USfine I wouldn't be doing it to increase my "rs fun"
but to rather make an easy profit from RS. So it depends on what you do with the money u spend on rs

I honestly think that there is nothing wrong with spending money to buy a runescape account. As long as you FEEL as though your purchase was worth it and you actually ENJOYED your purchase, then that is perfectly fine.

Anyone who says that your nerdy for spending over $1,000 on runescape needs to get a reality check and stop being such a narrow-minded cunt. It takes thousands of hours to get an account to 2376 skill total. In fact, even the most enthusiastic of runescape players like "timlahaye" took 2 years to reach 2376 skill total.

Could you even imagine and comprehend the amount of time that would have to be invested into getting a 2376 skill total account? Hell, with 2 years worth of time, I could be working and spending time with friends.

Our fellow forum viewer "project eden" is obviously blessed with a good salary and not being an "high maintenance" person. He obviously have the money to spend and will enjoy his purchase. Also, he apparently realizes that trading 2 weeks of salary is more than a fair trade for 2+ years of time spent on runescape.

It depends, spending not that much cash isnt bad, but wasting hundreds and hundreds of dollars is retarded, would u rather have a level 138 with 99s in like everything or a macbook air?

i have a lot of accounts ( rs and others) but i havent spend a cent from my pockets.

i buy my membership or goods with money i got from blackmarket =)

actually i earn irl money... last month i bought a dog with the money i got from an account =)
( note for nolifers: not a pixel dog like the ones on ardougne, i bought a living dog, skin, bones, etc...).

i prefer a life =)

 

It's not worth it, RuneScape's just a game, play it like one.
That's what I think, I spend my money on life, and having fun..
