Well..yes and no.

Does the actions that global warming is producing exist? Yes but not because it's some form of human made apocalypse. This is a natural stage of the earths cycle. A period of natural heating followed by a period of cooling (commonly ice ages)

Do they go to the extent that people say they do? No not at all, and to quote from George Carlin, we say were harming the planet, except the planet's fucking fine. It's our ecosystem thats fucked. So this whole ploy to "save the planet" is our version of self-preservation.

wel.. i think yes, but this discussion about global warming is really overrated. Only our kids maybe will feel the real global warming.

Of course global warming exists, the water on the beach rises very very slowly every year.

Edit [From the ice burgs melting]

Do you believe it's natural or we are causing it?

The actual implications of global warming are cyclical, and would occur with or without humans, but I think it's absolutely true that the excessive amounts of pollutants that our society produces are not only hastening the process, but probably creating conditions that will worsen the effects.

A snapshot of, what, at the most 100 years worth of CO2 levels is sufficient proof for you? This "cyclical" phenomenon you're talking about happens on scales of centuries, if not milennia. Anyone can take a tiny, tiny chunk of a graph and establish anything from it.

By the way, the vast majority of the "pollutants" about which I'm assuming you are talking are not greenhouse gases. CO2 is perhaps the only major candidate for a greenhouse gas in industrial emissions, and as Sythe's post demonstrates, its status as an actual greenhouse gas is shaky. The others are surely detrimental in other ways, but their effects on "global warming" are extremely negligible.

Yes, I do believe that the earth is in a process of slowly warming (due to increased solar radiation and a positive-feedback effect from natural CO2 emissions). However, I am not arrogant enough to believe that it is my fault for driving my SUV, nor is it even power plants' faults for burning trillions of pounds of fossil fuels. I understand that CO2 levels have been increasing ever since we industrialized the burning of fossil fuels, but we still only contribute a very small amount of the net CO2 per year. The major factor is the ocean. When the ocean heats up, it releases unthinkable amounts of CO2 into the air. When it cools, it absorbs more CO2.

Proof?

Global warming is a powerful, aristocracy that has the intention of using the environment deteriorating as a way to take over the world and make billions.

The goal is to create something of a World Conservation Bank.

There aims are to create an anxiety about global warming to such a fevered pace that people willing to accept a bank that will accept the responsibility for cleaning up the environment and the bank will not be a friendly bank.

so we have the establishment of a world conservation bank that will oppose industry while the aristocrats involved with such banks will cash in on the conservation projects.

They told us that it would be great to have 1 bank because then we'd have 1 currency. It's all part of the "New World Order" or "One World Order" in which everything will be controlled in a monopoly sense but through cooperation, rather than competition. There will be no competition.

After Maurice Strong vocalized his idea for a world bank, countries started dropping their own currencies and adopting the Euro. After a scandal involving the UN, Maurice resigned from his long time position and moved to Beijing where he now helps the Chinese government trade, buy, and sell "Carbon Credits." Basically, permission slips to pollute.

uhm..

Do you have any proof of this, or it just another tinfoil hat-conspiracy?

Of course the concept of Global Warming is real. But I don't believe its happening in normal day to day societies. The reason New York City has been getting hotter is due to the amount of people and the amount of buildings conducting all that heat.

Proof is everywhere, Do you really think the government and those behind this care about anything other than money? Every government official or highly respected person that is pushing global warming benefits financially in some way or another, otherwise, whats their motivation?

They tell us it is our fault that the consequences they laid out are going to take place. That being global warming and all the negative environmental changes. This changes our perspective on everything and pushes us to buy "green" products and buy different gas for our cars and basically do things differently than we would have before in hopes of doing our part for the environment. This results in huge profit for the cooperations producing the green products and the people they pay to promote them.

They use global warming as a way to gain control of every aspect of people lives. How many kids you can have, what cars you can buy, where you can live. they're trying to promote this new "religion" of environmentalism and controlling people's behaviors.

Theres a company called Hara that Al Gore is a patron of and what they do is create something of a carbon monitoring software that every company is going to have to get. They help companies reduce their carbon footprint and avoid paying the carbon tax. The carbon market in the US is expected to be over a trillion dollars by 2015 and the technology they're delivering will cause Hara to gain billions. In turn, making money for Al Gore. Why wouldn't he want to promote global warming and try to push the company forward as best he can? When people lobby to get the government to do something, generally the people lobbying for that are doing so because they are going to benefit financially. Al Gore is the front man for Maurice Strong.

Maurice strong is the worlds leading environmentalist, first director of the UN's environmental program, the one that launched the "Green Movement", and the organizer of the UN's Earth Summit in Rio in 1992 where the stage was set to enact the Kyoto Treaty regulating greenhouse gas emissions. He is also the director of the Chicago Climate Exchange. (Another organization that buys and sells "carbon credits.") and a billionaire industrialist that works closely with the Rockefeller and Rothschild family, Some of the key lobbyists for the World Conservation Bank and the World Bank as voiced by Maurice at the 4th World Wilderness Congress

no reason i should type out what you can just find via google.

Global warming is real. Only a small part of it is caused by humans. The Earth has natural heating and cooling periods, and this one is a heating one.

Ah yes - what I meant was the "common" definition of global warming: how humans are causing the world to warm up and how we have to do such and such to stop it.

Yes - if you look at an IR spectrum of CO2 it absorbs strongly in the (long wavelength) visible and infrared region. Hence some infrared radiation is prevented from leaving the earths atmosphere. This warms the atmosphere up. The concentration of CO2 and the temperature of the earth show linear proportionality.

This argument always makes me laugh. Let's bundle up some basic science with some shoddy statistics and say that we're geniuses!

IF you look closely at the relationship between temperature and CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere, you can see that temperature almost always precedes CO2. Most people avoid this (since it is a graph on the scale of milennia, and this lagging is only a couple of decades), but it means we have it all backwards. CO2 is not causing the Earth to warm. The Earth warming is causing more CO2, which speeds up the process of global warming until it reaches a peak, at which point the temperature drops suddenly.
