Why do people buy accounts?

It's basically guaranteed to get recovered. I just don't understand why people buy accounts when you will lose your money (especially paying with gold)

 

Not true, some people have been selling accounts for years and haven't recovered them, but yes if you're buying from a guy that doesn't have a good amount of quality vouches chances are it could be recovered in the future.

 

Accounts are never guaranteed to get recovered, some newcomers with 5 postcount actually do end up being legitimate long-term.

There is always a risk though, but it is usually one that people are willing to take.

At the end of the day, it's always going to be easier to purchase an account than level one up yourself, or pay someone else to do so.

Time is money, that's why convenience plays such a big role in markets.

 

Yeah I understand that some newcomers end up being legit, but when I'm looking at the dispute forum etc it's literally 90% of accounts get recovered... It's just so easy to recover a Runescape account back. Especially if people are asking to get paid in RSGP when they say they are quitting Runescape.. I don't really understand that. If the person that's paying with cash tries to get his money back, you can just recover your account. That just seems like a guaranteed scam if you only take RSGP. But that's my opinion.

 

Once you find the right seller, they save you so much time! It's always a risk but sometimes very rewarding

 

Yes, there are alot of people who recover accounts, but theres also alot of long time account sellers who have never recovered an account. People just need to realize that buying off a newcomer with zero vouches is a poor choice.

 

It's not just newcomers, a lot of long time / trusted account sellers have scamquit and recovered their accounts. In the past week or so Befriend recovered probably over a dozen accounts, Isca recovered an account from a 500m 07 transaction following his ban instead of repaying a very minor firecaping scam his partner was responsible for, and I remember some kid named Net5ky or something that recovered several maxed mains totaling thousands of dollars. There's been plenty more. A lot of the markets on here are just full of scammers, from what i've seen it's a lot of:
Account sales (Recoveries)
RSPS (just scammers)
Steam (Cracked accounts)
Name sales (One major circlejerk of sniping and recovering)
Gamertags/Social media handles (Also one major circlejerk of scamming and sniping)

Sythe attracts more users than probably most if not all marketing websites excluding eBay, Craigs List etc. as they're not solely virtual goods, and with that a lot more scammers. People just need to be careful.

 

People buy accounts when they want a new one but don't have the time to create it by themselves. Runescape accounts are really easy to recover so you need to buy with extra attention directed towards the sellers reputation. Buying off someone with no reputation is asking for trouble. If I needed a rs account I would buy off a mod, admin or Eut because they've proven after time that they are people you can trust to not recover

 

Laziness or not having the time to play consistently to get what they want to achieve. Many people buying accounts are generally ignorant of the repercussions following that trade.

 

Skipping the grind. Not all accounts that are sold are recovered. There are plenty of newer users that have sold accounts and stayed true to their word. Just the vast majority of them are scammers, unfortunately.

 

I'm sure not everyone recovers an account when they sell it.

 

Some people just pay 100$ for maxed account, and think that they have saved 2-3 years of playtime, to get it. Most of the time it is the biggest mistake, because after 2-3 months they loose these acc's, cuz owner have recovered it.
Also there is another group of account buyers, who just buy acc to have fun in Duel Arena, for stake. Why they are buying it, I don't know :/

 

People who buy accounts for staking usually buy them because if you know what you're doing staking can be very profitable, I know a few people who make a living from staking.

 

Some are very trusted. But IMO I would never buy account just because its always possible

What protection does buying an account from eBay give you?

 

you can get your money back through ebay buyer protection

 

Still doesn't take away the fact that all your hard work that you do on the account would be gone, not to mention any wealth you leave on the account.

 

In my opinion just hire someone to level your own account but the reason people buy accounts is because they are cheap and easy and that is truly the only reason.

 

Arcus and stuff won't recover most likely, they've sold too many accs..
