    Most implementations of blockchain technology will be mostly behind the scenes.

    When you make a credit card payment, the money doesn't go from your bank account to the other person's bank account. Instead it goes through about 5-15 different stops along the way like your bank, their bank, clearing houses, etc. This is true for various different industries other than finances.

    When blockchain becomes mainstream, it will most likely be for things we don't see and will take for granted

    Examples:

    Dapps
    Payment systems
    POS systems
    Computing (although it is expensive rn)
    Business Supply chains (Like INS.world and others like Waltonchain)
    Grocery Stores and Retail Inventory tracking (kinda goes with the supply chain part)
    Government Institutions and the applications they use (Law enforcement, Criminal Justice System, Immigration, birth certificates, etc).​

Advancements in the technology of money such as preventing counterfeiting, allowing electronic transfers, all preceded economic booms. Honest money, honest accounting is extremely valuable, the economy can't operate efficiently without it.

    So no it's not a gimmick, although most coins are.

    Blockchain can be used in a lot of different situations.

    When Haiti got hit with back earthquakes and hurricanes, a central building with the whole countries information on citizens was lost after the building with the central computer collapsed.

    Imagine if that information was stored on a blockchain.
