    Does .999999...etc. = 1?

    No.
    Absolutely not.

    1/3 = 1/3, when put in decimal 1/3 = .33333333333 but continous because it can't actually be fully expressed as a decimal, if you're saying 1/3 x3 = 1, that's fine but .99999999999999999~ doesn't because it's a different number, and could be so close to it , but isn't it .
    I suppose it depends on the context, because 3/3 = 1, and if you're doing 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 but in decimal form and that's what intended, then .9999~ =1 , but otherwise no it doesn't .

That's exactly what is meant by it.

Mathematics isn't situation. If they are equal in that one case, they are equal in all cases. Just as the number one can be expressed by different fractions (3/3, 4/4),the number one can be expressed by different decimals (1.0, 0.(9)).

    Exactly.

Another definition of two different numbers: Two numbers in which there is a number between them in value.

Find me a number between .9~ and 1. You can't. It doesn't exist.

    Uhh, your definition isn't correct.

Simple logic, what about two different numbers that are just one off by 0.000...1 and the 0s being a relatively infinite amount? To make it easier to understand - take finite numbers for example... 2 and 3 are different numbers but there are no finite numbers between them.

    Infinitesimally small numbers don't exist.

    2.5?

Just throwing it out there, when dealing with atomic matter, there is no 2.5 because half an atom isn't an atom anymore. It becomes 2 atoms and x/2 number of quirks where x is the atomic number of the atom.

Irrational numbers don't exist either, but they are still a logical basis for mathematical theory
    EDIT: 800 POSTS
EDIT2: Found this on wikipediea and Lol'd
Wikipedia says that there is a reason that 0.999~ = 1, but I don't get it.
