What are people's views on the 2022 Russian / Ukraine war (or Russian invasion of Ukraine)?

I find it hard to believe that invading its neighbour is going to do Russia any good (although Putin is not stupid and I doubt he would have started this if he wasn't confident on what he wanted to achieve).

The latest is the current sanctions western countries are placing on Russia, specifically hitting the banks and economy.

What do we all think the ultimate outcome will be? Will Russia win in Ukraine and force them to surrender? Or will other countries get involved and we may see this war escalate?

 

I believe other countries will continue to get involved and Russia will end up backing out. If Russia decides to continue then it will only get worse for them.

 

Involved directly or indirectly? I doubt we'll see direct intervention as this will escalate things on a massive scale (if NATO goes to war with Russia, we are looking at WW3).

I don't see Russia wanting to make this a "long war", they will want to be "in and out" of the Ukrainian capital as soon as Putin achieves his goal(s) whatever they are exactly.

 

Both. I don't see things escalating to a massive scale though because I almost guarantee nuclear weapons will be involved. Putin already threatened this earlier today.

Not sure what Putin's goal is either but his country is going to suffer.

 

It's scaring me quite a bit, but it saddens me more that presumably so many innocent lives have to be taken because of this quarrel. Hopefully it ends soon, although I doubt that if Putin wins his endgame stops at Ukraine. Then again if Putin loses (which I don't consider as a high possibility) I doubt he's gonna take his loss and leave it at that. But then again, as I read somewhere else, there are no winners in wars.

Current situation is Russia are currently shelling the shit out of Ukraine from all directions, going to be another long night... I assume Russia is trying to force a surrender at this point rather than more deaths on both sides (especially civilian).

 

I've been using mostly Twitter. Twitter is great for the latest news.

Talks today so we will see where this goes.

He won't win a guerilla war in Ukraine tbh. Look at Afghanistan / Vietnam. Ukraine is much bigger and actually supported by the west.

 

I don't pay attention to that. I pay attention to the facts.

 

So how can you decide what's a fact and what isn't?
And even if something can be objectively considered a fact, it can still be misleading information if related/relevant crucial info is left out (that means: presented info is incomplete).

 

i just hope it ends asap. putin threatening finland and sweden since they want to join nato. putin threatening with nuclear weapons so its about to get crazy but lets hope its over soon.

 

Let's put it the other way around: How can you decide what's propaganda and what isn't? I believe propaganda can be seen anywhere. I'd say as long as multiple sources confirm the same thing I'll assume they're telling the truth. If they aren't, well fuck me then, but there's no disaster in that, as the majority of us don't have to act upon it.

 

I'm not getting into a debate about social media but it is well known that "fake news" is a thing and it is very easy to spread misinformation these days on events in the world, Covid and the current war are perfect examples.

Update: Media have just corrected the estimate and the convoy above is actually up to 40 miles long.

 

Russian ruble is now worth less then a virtual piece of metal that can do nothing in game(scrap metal from TF2)

 

I wouldn't take Russia Today for their word if they get retweeted by the Russia times.

Tbh the best way to know things is from insiders.

Actually that is just all FEDcoin equivalents. Pretty sure Russia has been doubling down on crypto or the oligarchs likely have their own coin we don't know about

 

For an average person, validating on multiple news sources is good enough lol.

Also quick question, how do you know your "insider" isn't feeding you bullshit?
