Do poor people deserve poverty?

There are many that deserve it; druggies, gamblers, etc.
However, no one in theory should deserve to be poor.

Capitalism thrives on there being poverty, and while I do support it very moderately, the concept of poverty really is not justified albeit individual cases.

 

Absolutely not. Poverty is almost never the fault of the victim. For example, is it fault of an African child that he is poverty? No, rather it is the huge birth/death rate, lack of resources, and lack of basic human needs.

 

Poor people that dont TRY to pick themselves up deserve it, and do it to themselves.

 

I agree with you, however, if that same man were to get fired and thinks hes above a minimum paying job and as a result starts collect taxpayers money, then he deserves to stay in poverty.

 

Well depends people who live in shanty towns don`t deserve it as most of them have been born into a poor family to work on family farms however people who waste their lives on drugs do deserve it as they have been given a chance and they blew it.

 

"Deserve" is a completely wrong word to use in this question. There is no deserve when talking about occurrences that are based on luck or just where you were born. You may wish someone is poor (not a very good feeling though) but that doesn't make them deserve it.

What I mean is, deserving something, is subjective to the person judging it. So there won't be a "final conclusion" to this discussion since it's only opinions about a subjective matter. That's why your question doesn't make sense.

 

Nobody deserves poverty except for those who refuse to work hard and excel. Those who are in poverty because of sickness, mental illness, or for reasons like that are deserving of pity, they do not deserve their poverty.

In my opinion yes, they should work like everyone else so they dont work themself in poverty.

 

I believe it depends on the circumstance. If a person is a handicapped veteran and lost his/her family I believe he/she deserves poverty. If I see a homeless man on the side of the street begging for money with a cigarette in his mouth or hand, I don't believe he deserves poverty. A man begging for money should eventually gather enough money to clean his act up and try and find a job, even if it's a low-paying one.

 

No one deserves poverty. People that live it most likely were born into poverty, or made decisions that lead into poverty. Intelligence is what most people in poverty lack. opportunity is out there, but you have to be willing to work for what you deserve.

 

Everyone has equal opportunity when being born, although some people are born into poor families, they can still make something of themselves through hard work and dedication.

 

Let's define poor and poverty first.

-Lacking enough money to live comfortably in a society.

-The state of being inferior in quality or insufficient in amount

These 2 words are very different if you analyse it closely.

Poor is more of your physical state of material possession. And poverty drives people to lack due to being inferior in their mental state.

A poverty driven mindset will bring people to being poor. But here's the good news, a poor person who does not have a poverty mindset will naturally work harder than his counterpart and thereby, living a much better life.

So here's the answer to your simple question.

Poor people who are driven by a poverty mentality deserves it while those who are willing to step beyond the poverty line don't. Anyway, the latter will not stay poor for long.

 

how can you give factual evidence that poor people deserve poverty?? If you are in a civilised country get a fucking job and support yourself, if you cant then enjoy being poor. This is the circle of life. If you aren't making enough then do something that pays better.

It is a choice that people make. There is plenty of money in the world if you REALLY want it.

The majority of the poor seek out necessities before anything else, whether it be through government hand outs such as Welfare, or begging for change on street corners. There's a wide array of "poor," people who make $20,000-0 a year are considered lower class. If you move your abacus just a pinch, you'll notice that is the common situation for college students, but they're planning on become successful in their near futures.

Nobody has an excuse for not trying. I mean really trying, not like those starving Africans. If there's no food in the desert, move out of the desert.

 

If you are just sitting around and not trying to get a job then yes, if you are born in a place where you can't get a job or even able to pay to go to school then I believe no.
