Here is how to download from Youtube without any risky software:
Go to the video u want to download, then in between www.and youtube, type "kiss" (no quotes) so basically it should look like this:

But when you download this way, the video will be Flv, meaning flash video.. Luckily Youtube Offers a FREE FLV Player available for download here

Another great and extremely easy method is http://keepvid.com/ which gives direct avi links(along with regular .flv) for almost all the video sharing sites

It's very cool.

Also, there is this great program called YouTube FLV to AVI easy converter. It will convert flv files into avi with excellent output quality. Avi files can then be played in WMA or other Standard multimedia players. It is NOT Warez and here of some downloads:

Nah, the YouTube Downloader is worth it. The file isn't even that large and it rips YouTube files right away into flvs and can also convert them into media files. It downloads the YouTUbe vids at a good speed of 500 kb/sec of faster.

Flv file is flash video. There are many free programs that are extremely easy to use to convert flv to avi.

Theres a imo better way to get youtube vids.
The better way is:
1) Get an extension for firefox for downloading flv videos from sites. (Use google to find it)
2) Then you convert the video to avi cuz flv players suck. Use a software or a site
(you cant advertise sites so i cant tell you the one i've used).

Theres also some sites that download the video from youtube by inserting link straight as avi. But these sites dont seem to work that well nowdays for some reason. (keepvid is one and it dont work for atleast me)
