Discord Community Input

Staff is working on codifing some more specific rules for discord (whether channel specific or for the entire discord) and would like to get some community input.

These rules are not meant to be overly restrictive; rather, want to ensure we do not have a gray zone in cases.

Would you like to see any rules added? No rules added/left as is? Let us know below!

 

Not sure how popular this is going to make me, but it'd be nice if certain chat had to be kept in the respective channels. The main chat is often filled with crypto-talk and people buying/selling stuff - both of these have their own specific rooms and having to use them shouldn't be a problem for anyone truly interested. If this isn't enforced then the sub-channels may as well be removed as they'd therefore be unnecessary. Also, I'd say spamming the specific channels should be policed a bit more; on several occasions I've seen people copy and paste the same account/gp-selling thread like 5-6 times in #trade without anyone else posting and it's just obnoxious, given that it takes up the entire viewing area and other posts are then hidden unless you scroll up to find them.

 

I think for the most part discord is pretty alright. Maybe excessive spam/harassing could be cut a little bit but I don't really care about that personally as no one really harasses me there lol (just doing this for others)

Does anyone actually use the trade channel or music channel on the left? I see for the most part everybody uses the main #sythe channel.

I'm not sure what we should do with this channel because it is the first thing newcomers see, I think honestly it should be seen as an extension of the sandbox now it's bigger. Light trolling is allowed, but nothing out of control. (Can people joke about scam quitting? People are so used to being able to just joke about being like "ahah gonna scam quit $5" it would be hard for people to adjust)

#Bots channel
Treated as a community section (Sythe rules apply) - No NSFW/Gore/trolling/joking about scamming

#Help channel
Treated as a community section, a 0 warning zone, you troll in there it's a 24 hour ban from the Discord

#NSFW channel
Same as Sythe channel

#Programming channel
Treated as a community section (Sythe rules apply)- No NSFW/Gore/trolling/joking about scamming

#Trade channel
Treated as a Market section (Sythe rules apply) E.g Not spam posting every 30 seconds, 1 post every (30 minutes?)- No NSFW/Gore/trolling/joking about scamming

#Crypto channel
Treated as a community section (Sythe rules apply)- No NSFW/Gore/trolling/joking about scamming

#Graphic_design channel
Treated as a community section (Sythe rules apply)- No NSFW/Gore/trolling/joking about scamming

#Music
Treated as a community section (Sythe rules apply) - No spamming songs, if multiple people are in the channel allow them to play a song also.

Discord PMs are taken seriously.

 

Maybe the addition of a "Free for All" channel? Basically, anything said in there is treated as a complete joke and will NEVER be taken seriously. Essentially a "Spam Forum" channel. For the Discord in general though, it is being promoted as an official chat room for this forum, so it should be treated as an extension of it as such (taking with it the rules etc)

Also if someone could figure out why on earth I cannot connect to the Sythe Discord on my usual IP that would be great. @Mootrucks and me had a look at it not long ago but there is no way to determine if my IP is banned if I don't recognise any of the banned usernames.

Discord kinda seems like a place where you can joke around more than you can on Sythe. Less rules to worry about but maybe I was wrong.

 

Keep it as is but no trolling inside the cryptocurrency or trade channels. Discord is an extension of the spam forum overegulating will take away the fun.

 

I share the same sentiments. Being able to have fun in the main channel is the best part about discord in my opinion. Maybe some more strict rules that are a definite no, but then again those rules apply to the SF as well. Maybe just copy those rules but make it publicly aware that they're in place?

 

Yeah just copy those rules into the pinned messages section on discord. Apparently the no trolling in the trade or cryptocurrency channel is already a rule according to rich.

 

This TBH it's pretty annoying for me to see crypto related stuff lol since I'm not into it. Would prefer if people just use the correct sections since it's actually hard to speak to people sometimes while others speak about cryptos or spam trade stuff in the main chat.

 

Leave Discord alone. We should be able to post pictures of people wearing thongs without getting banned.

Not happy about this at all. I use the discord as my sole method of social interaction and when you place restrictions and limits on what can and can't be said on an already dead platform, it begins to fossilise.

Good job you sensitive cucks that can't joke about a dox here or a scamquit there. You got your safe space, but it's gonna be mighty fucking shit I'll tell you that much.

#help and #toxic were the only good things to come with this update 3/10.

 

Several hundred NSFW (including some horsecock) images later (mostly sent from @Grave and @Syed of course) it's clear that no matter what channel you're in, there's gonna be some dicking about / trolling to some extent.

I say have a #sythe channel (general, light-hearded jokes and no porn)

And #toxic / #nsfw channel (no restrictions, can say whatever you want and porn is allowed)
