Type 2 Diabetes

Have you or a family member ever been diagnosed with Type Two Diabetes? If so, how did you or they adjust their lives to deal with all of the required changes? Were you or they able to ever overcome it completely and return to a normal life?

 

I don't know the different levels of it but my grandma was diabetic and had to prick herself with something to read her sugar level or w/e its called often. She lived to around 90 so I don't think it really affected her that much. Other than watching what she ate and pricking herself everything appeared to be normal.

 

Proper diet/exercise can reduce the likely hood of getting type 2 and it has proven that those with border line type 2 may be cured but that is a very low probability.

 

Uncle has it and he seems to get by fine tbh

 

Both my grandma and grandpa were diagnosed. My grandma ended up gaining a lot of weight but that's simply because she refused to follow the guidelines and dietary restrictions set out by her doctor. My grandpa on the other hand took it very seriously as he was always a very healthy and active man and had no idea how he was diagnosed with it. After a mere few months of extremely healthy eating (that doesn't mean cutting out your favorite things, it means cutting out bad things) he went back to the doctor for a checkup, and the doctor was astounded to see that he overcame the diabetes and was no longer a diabetic.

Basically, a person has to have strong willpower to get over it. If someone sets their mind to living a healthy lifestyle, diabetes will be a thing of the past. My grandpa is 75 years old now, coincidentally actually visiting my family right now, and as healthy as ever. He swims, walks, gardens, and does everything he could want to. My grandpa is in her late 60s and has become very inactive due to not following the necessary steps to being cured.

 

Almost everyone on my mothers side has diabetes and I sure as hell hope I don't end up with it. But remember to just keep a healthy lifestyle and reconsider your decisions that have a negative impact on your body.

 

I have a teacher with type 2, it looks like it sucks but then again its not me :L
