Just wondering if anyone feel's any depression? or maybe has had something bad happen in life, which has lead to peers or outsiders to "shun" you from normality in a way? I personally used to feel this, but as day's roll on i am realizing i am destined for something great in life, we don't need to be in a group of friends to be somebody, Individuality is what makes us.

People who don't understand depression tend to "shun" those who claim to have it, I know I used to be like that, I thought why can't they just snap out of it? Why can't they just make themselves happy? But after going through anxiety I know exactly how they feel and I'll never think the same about people with depression even though A LOT of people out there tend to fake it for "attention."

There's a certain stigma that goes along with any mental illnesses/depression which is unfortunate for those who are afflicted, with it as if anything, it just makes them feel worse.

In my youth I felt a bit dark at times but I was merely trying to see my place in the vast world and it passed not long after.

In the grand scheme of things however I feel people get shunned too easily. If you have ever wanted to express an opinion that is not of your peers then that automatically shuns you, which I think is stupid. I think it's due to this that we aren't more technologically advanced today than we ought to be (burning of witches/scientists, etc)

But then again, you have to be in a bad place to want attention like that. So I wouldn't disregard those who aren't actually depressed either.

It's a weird thing, one of my favourite quotes is:
"Why is it that when an organ or a bone is broken, we get sympathy but when our brain is broken we are looked down upon?"

I could go in all day, but usually the ones who put you down are the ones who have the biggest insecurities.

I have high anxiety and i gi through long periods of depression. Its weird ill he fine and happy for weeks at a time. Then out of the blue ill go for months just feeling sad and lonely. I ride through it as best as i can. Some days ill just sleep all day and just feel miserable about myself. I always end up getting past it somehow or another. Its not as simple as "just snapping out of it" or "stop feeling sorry for yourself". I try to live by the quote in my sig. Everytime i read it i feel like i can move forward and tomorrow will be better than the last.

I have a friend who "used" to be depressed and suicidal for months when his girlfriend left him. At first I used to pity him and tried to be by his side, but he kept on being depressed and would only talk about her. Like, each and every day, and I would sometimes start to try to avoid talking to him and leave him alone, so that I don't get that "depression disease" too. But then, I started being mean to him 'cause it was so irritating me, he wouldn't move on. We fought, stopped talking for months and now we're alright.

everyone's different some people have less struggle going through hard times , some people have more , some situations wouldn't really effect someone ... vise versa etc etc , you get the point , for some people they will feel their pain in silence , for some they wont stop talking about it and almost be annoying yeah ... but in the end we're almost all the same even tho we're all different , we'll probably all come to a day where we'll feel a little bit depressed ... which i think is part of your choice , you choose to be happy or you choose to be unhappy , yes sometimes life give you hard times , its your choice to take it like a bad thing or another experience , doesnt remove the pain it can makes you feel but it should help you moving forward , everything takes time , for some its more than others , the way you've lived being a kid has alot to do too .. for exemple i never really had my dad , so i learned since im young to not care too much about people since i couldnt even reliate on my dad , which helped me alot when i lost girlfriends i used to love because i already knew how to face it ... didnt help me alot too because they didnt feel really loved even tho i did love them alot .. which would be the thing hurting me .. the fact that they didnt felt loved even tho it was the case , the fact of loosing my girlfriend didnt hurt because life goes on , you meet new people everyday and you know when you start a relationship that it wont last forever , but i felt bad / sad after my relationships because they didnt feel loved which made me feel some kind of depression for the first time of my life and i understood how everyone felt and gave me another point of view of this situation , but for some , you get everything easy being a kid so when you're older and its time to face a situation that you havent ever faced being younger i think with all emotions evolved and maturity that you now have its harder to go through . /// The bad thing about having alot of friends too if that you dont know whos there for you or whos there for what you can bring , be careful to who you choose as friends , i learned with time that its better to have 2-3 friends than have 50 that you can't realiate on , like you said Individuality is what makes us , stand to your points of views dont let nobody change you for popularity/whatever :P sorry for the book guys and for my bad english , french canadian right here , liked the subject thought id practice more my english while trying to help
