[DENIED] Undocumented / Confusing Bans

This is from the point of view of a buyer of services and not a seller. The suggestion is that mods start posting when a high profile user is banned without a scam report. Specifically for post / advertising violations... Either in the scammer section or the ‘violation’ section.

The assumption of any customer when a service seller user is banned is that they’ve either scam-quit or done something that warrants immediate removal from the website without the need for a report. This causes uproar and panic to all of the buyers customers who are left having to directly speak with the banned user for answers (not ideal?).

Also when you ban a user who hasn’t actually scammed anyone your left with the customers having to trust that they won’t scam-quit during the temp ban period so your penalising us (buyers) as well as the seller. Can you not lock / hide the the threads that had the violation (to prevent new orders in the period) and give the user a different status to banned for example ‘temp ban’ or ‘locked’ to make it easier to identify what’s gone on?

 

Hey! I so you would like the mods to have a subsection under say “anti scam” (which is were the scammers/vader/violations) is posted. In this subsection you want the moderators to make a report for the members that are temporarily banned for say infraction buildup?
If so, most of the time you will find these reports of the user getting banned for violations in the report a violation section.
If you don’t see it there, and you’re curious, you can always just ask a moderator, they are full of information & always share the reasoning to why said user is banned / temp banned. Also, if you click the “banned” rank it will also redirect you to the report.

I do support your suggestion though, for the cases in which the user is banned for infraction buildup. When they are banned for infraction build up it just shows they are temp banned & I don’t believe it is linked to any certain page. Perhaps they can link it to an infraction build up page?

That said, I agree we need a system that filters out temp bans due to infractions/other reasons i.e. @Dbuffed

 

Agreed, maybe give them a banned rank like twc that u can click on and it redirects you to report/reason

If a staff member does deny this suggestion, I am curious why it's on the Do Not Suggest list. Yes, the reason is:

But it truely is not extra work considering it's probably just an addon to add or an option to select. The information being kept private usually means their ban reasons are listed to a thread within the staff section which are unable to be read anyways. The majority of the bans however are publicly visible and in those cases it can be very useful to see it off the bat why they were banned for.

 

Bans could range from infractions to mass scamming/blackhat etc.
If this were to be implemented today, it would have to be added moving forward. Introducing the DNT rank made it very convenient not having to worry about the scams happening prior leading up to that point.
Essentially this would be adding another rank (Ban x, ban y, dnt)

Although I do believe it would be convenient I can imagine why it’s not up for debate, and there is probably multiple more reasons.

 

We also already send server-wide ban notifications on discord. Not sure why this is needed too.

 

The simple solution to this is to create a temporary ban rank to differentiate from a permanent ban.
