[DENIED] Suggestion About sigs.

Support, this is a very simple addition that should be added. I think mine's fine? Blackblasses made it!

 

I support this.

Even if it only takes a few seconds to check the dimensions yourself, I feel that with this implemented the process of uploading a sig will be smoother and easier. It will prevent newer users from uploading sigs that are too large and also means that staff spend less time dealing with users who have sigs that are too big.

There is also the case of a user not knowing the maximum dimensions allowed, even if they know how to check the dimensions of their sig. With this implemented it means that users will not need to worry about the size of their sig anymore and will be able to upload in confidence without the worry of receiving an infraction.

Also, if a message is displayed where it states the maximum dimensions allowed then this will save users time searching Sythe in order to find what dimensions are allowed.

It just makes the entire process more user friendly in my opinion.

 

If they put a notice out. You have X amount of days to change your sig before we implement a forum wide change then it seems fair. You won't be able to set a sig bigger than (1000x1000). Even if you previously had the sig to be bigger than (1000x1000) the replacement sig would be in the smaller range.

 

If there’s a way to have every sig checked and resized while keeping the aspect ratio the same without any errors or huge waste of time then enlighten me

 

You tag an identifier to the sig line of code.
Add a line of code that will retrieve the size of sigs from every user.
Put it in a database and tag it too. Forum users have a unique ID that is a set amount of characters,X.
So just do 9 + X.

As much as everyone says that is cool and a nice fix, if someone has a paid signature, AKA someone pays them to use their signature, and it is too big, and someone loses their advertisement for a time because of it things aren't going to be pretty, I get that is the person who is selling the spots fault but still, as I said earlier if it can be done I think it would have already.

 

They paid for a signature of X size. If that size is bigger than the allowed size then it will be not useable in on this forum. Doesn't mean they can't use it anywhere else.

To your second point that is why I said there should be an announcement a week or two before to prepare people.

 

I'm considering the fact some people use more than 1 advertisement

 

One time a mod gave me a warning point 2 times for my signature being to big.

The signature was made by a graphic artist on sythe.

I did not know the signature was "too large" (0in terms of file size possibly, not the actual proportions, since they were within the max size, even 25px wide under)

I think this is a decent idea, but at the end of the day, failure to know the rules isn't an excuse. However, If we allow a system to check ( like the avatar system, which I have suggested in the past), it could help and I would support.

But as someone who has suggested this, I know this will not pass because it seems like there isn't much excitement amongst the staff to develop more systems on top of the current systems. It is too much trouble to stop new comers who can afford to get a warning point for a signature.

This is not really worth the time and resources used to add it to the site. If you see someone abusing the signature rules, report them and action will be taken. As far as repeat offenders it comes to a point where it should be common sense to know what you're doing wrong.
