[DENIED] Rework SOTM reward points

I feel that the SOTM rewards points need to be reworked

How is it that 4 points gets you a tier 1 prizebox which is basically worthless ($5-$10 max)
and 6 points gets you a minirank of choice which goes for around ($150)

I feel that SOTM only benefits the people who are good at graphics everyone can take a hike
I see its mostly the same 5-10 people who enter. The top 2-3 out of those 10 mostly always win.
That's like $150+ in a few months.

Most people are not good at graphics only a few.

My suggestion is to only allow these awards and possibly

A minirank of choice is to much ($150 value).









Current way:

How to enter, and what type of graphics do you accept?
All entries must be sent to @SOTM.
There will be a new graphics challenge every month, with a theme picked by the previous winner.
Entries may be submitted throughout the first two weeks of the month, followed by voting.
The graphics challenge encompasses all art styles, feel free to submit something different and unique!

Rules!
If you are submitting an IRL piece you must include a copy with your username next to it.
Pre-made, copied or troll work is not allowed.
You cannot include your name in your work or anything else which may differentiate you from other artists. (except for IRL submissions).
Entries must abide by the signature rules (Maximum dimensions of 650x350).

Winner minirank: (Provided to winner of any monthly graphics challenge)



Double Winner minirank: (Provided to winner of any 2 monthly graphics challenges)



Penta Winner minirank: (Provided to winner of any 5 monthly graphics challenges)



At the end of the year whomever won the most Monthly Graphics Challenges will win a Competition Winner fun rank (or a different fun rank if you previously own competition winner, excluding exclusive fun ranks).

Everyone who participates in a Monthly Graphics Challenge with a valid entry will receive 1 point for that month.
CDT has the right to disqualify any low effort entry to avoid points farming!
The winner of the Monthly Graphics Challenge will receive 2 points for that month.

Points can be spent on the following:

4 points can be used to trade in for a sythe.org Prizebox.



6 points can be used to trade in for a Minirank of your choice (excluding certain mini's not obtainable by other means).

 

I would agree with the mini rank of choice being a major jump from a tier 1 prize box, but also keep in mind it does take months to get to the final prize. It could be removed or we could add another competition of similar length and difficulty level in a different category.

However it would be easier to rework the rewarding system for SOTM in general as you proposed.

If the choice of any mini rank is removed it could be replaced with a system such as the following:

Tier 1 minibox (2)
Tier 2 minibox (3)
Tier 3 minibox (4)
Tier 4 minibox (5)

And then Pokemon Prize box (6)

Choice of any mini rank (8) ?

It's ultimately CDT's decision on this. I will say that I believe when the prizes were first announced, the values were much lower than they are today. The market for pokemon minis has ballooned unintentionally making the custom-minirank prize here much more valuable than it initially was

 

As someone who enters SOTM every month, I do somewhat agree the minirank of choice is a little much. When the prizes were set, the price of Pokemon miniranks were significantly less (1/4 the price~).

Now, the people winning the monthly events should also not be punished for putting in time and hard work in order to do so. I believe the point system we have currently is fine. (2 points for winners, 1 point for participants)

The only rework should be the prizes. Perhaps a high end tierbox/poke prizebox is more suitable for 6 points. Talk to @BlackBlasses and ask for his opinion on this matter.

 

Maybe a minirank of choice, put only for 1 time ? So no "grinding"?

 

i would say hike the points up to 12 for mini of choice. i think if you participate every month, a mini of choice is a fair reward (12 months = 12 points). ofcourse if you win SOTM frequently then you can get other prizeboxes with the leftover points, along with the mini of choice. only people who are interested will keep that 12 month streak strong. this also benefits people who win a lot as well since potentially they could get 2 mini of choice or a mini of choice plus poke prizebox.

3 = regular prizebox
6 = poke prizebox
12 = mini of choice (10 might more fair too)

CDT already has regulations on the quality of submissions so cant just use paint for 3 mins and get a point
