[denied] Bringing Back the Instagram and Twitter as Verified & Sythe-Related

Part of my efforts on the CDT team have been devoted to bringing the social media back to life. This also involved changing all the passwords (to clear any past members of access) / making new social media accounts where needed. It's been a slow and tedious process; however, I have the Instagram and Twitter up and running.

The Instagram and Twitter I've been working on are as follows:

Sythe.org (@ModSythe) | Twitter (had 100 followers at start)

Sythe.org - #1 RS Black Market (@modsythe) • Instagram photos and videos (started from scratch)


This suggestion is meant to parallel the below thread:

[APPROVED]Get rid of unused Sythe social media

and provide some clarity to the community on which social media are actively Sythe.org's social media.

Posting memes for now to get activity and engagement numbers higher. These will eventually be used for platforms to advertise all CDT and Sythe.org related events and announcements.

As for all of the various old social media accounts out there: you have to understand that people get demoted/leave the CDT team, and the PR team got deleted. The current CDT team has no access to any other instagram or twitter accounts that may be floating out there.

Implementing the Twitter and Instagram back onto the forums would hopefully provide more clarity to those who were confused in the above thread I linked.

I see no reason to remove social media if they are active. If we can maintain the activity and growth that would only benefit Sythe.

Not too long ago, a (now banned) member registered a reddit account and started advertising my service and attempted to scam people. They are barely used and are just another platform where scammers can pull stuff like that and go unnoticed for a longer while.**
**Personally I feel like all-in or nothing on social media. The question is if members of Sythe would appreciate it. Right now forums and discord seems like enough platform.**

I'm all for this if someone is actually going to stay on top of Sythe social media, so thanks for spearheading things. Personally I feel like the Instagram is going to be more relevant with the target userbase, especially if you're focusing on sharing memes.

As an aside, can we really not reach whoever created the existing Sythe market accounts? e.g. Sythe.org Forums (@sythe_market) • Instagram photos and videos "ModSythe" seems pretty RS-focused, and an admin can reach out to whoever it is via email if necessary. Seems silly to let 3k followers and a more relevant name go to waste if we can avoid it.

 

The account you specified with 3k instagram followers are botted followers (not real people, the new instagram I made has better activity on the posts and I just made it), and only Bolt, a banned member who scamquit, has access. With our new system of keeping the information, the staff members who are in CDT and I have the information. I'm afraid any old social media will have to keep floating in webspace.

 

Gotcha, thanks. I'm cool with your original suggestion, but my only hesitation is that the display names you've gone with might be too RS-focused for what Richard has in mind.

 

For the record, I wasn't the one who made the usernames. I'm very open to changing them pending vote from the CDT team, and am open to suggestions on what the community would like to see them changed to. Will just take a minor tweaking to our graphics from @Izad

 

I think the market base here on Sythe is more or less 90% runescape based.
Also, Mod = moderator ofc, there is moderators in literally every game
I think the name is fine, it’s short , it’s not too long, doesn’t have spaces in it (which make it more complicated for users to search tbh)
& if it is reflecting the Mod stigma from RuneScapec than I would say it’s beneficial as once again this site is primarily runescape trading.
^ex. Look at the discord / discord’s being advertised they are 99.9% rs related whether it be gambling, services, trading, and more.

 

Definitely support, social media is the biggest way to advertise and feel this suggestion could bring more traffic to Sythe

 

I'm all for it, but only IF they're actually active and make progress with promoting Sythe.

 

Support. However, I really believe that in order to be effective, CDT should put together a plan to use the social media, whether it is organizing competitions w/Sythe social media, attempting to go "RS viral" by responding to mod and streamer posts, etc.

I've managed two social media pages for smaller orgs before, and the one that had a targeted approach was the successful one, while the disorganized company quickly fizzled on their idea as their efforts didn't lead them to any success.

 

We're not going to make this an official initiative, but you are welcome to keep running these accounts if you like.
