    [DENIED] "Move" NOT "Close"

    Hi guys,

Here today I would like to suggest the moving of threads, instead of closing. I consider myself to be a
somewhat active member & it's really annoying when someone posts something in the forum, they
get the wrong section & the whole entire thread gets shut-down leaving the thread closed stopping
anyone from having any chance at responding. Arguing points below.

    1) Should be moved - not closed to produce another thread for members to be actively posting on. We
all know people complain about non-market sections being 'dead'.
    2) It's usually an honest mistake, most people who post in the wrong section are posting a normal post
and I have done it before as well (Post RS3 instead of OSRS) by accident, and it takes a user much
more time to go to the thread, copy everything, make a new one, paste it, and post it.

I think those two things alone should be enough to pass this suggestion.

    Why?

Because it should be a moderators job to moderate posts on the forum and put them into the correct
locations without closing them completely. I think a moderator's duty should include making sure
posts are posted in the right section & that they stay on the forum for people to actively post.
Closing a thread & giving someone a warning / infraction for a wrong section is silly. They already
get the point by re-posting the entire thing.

    SOLUTION:
Every 'legit' thread which is clearly meant to be posted for the community, which is in the
wrong section should be 'moved' by a moderator and followed up with an infraction. If the
thread is 'closed' don't follow it up with an infraction / warning, the persons work writing
the thread that got closed being compromised is enough. Just move it to the right section
with a warning/infraction and keep the legit posts worth posting on a part of the forum.

I'm not going to name names.

I suggested it especially because I see it being done alot by someone specifically, it seems lazy.

People make threads to get feedback / discuss things, which brings activity.

If we have moderators who just go "wrong section" *close* it looks so un-friendly and discouraging to even re-post.

It should be "I've moved your thread to the correct section, and I've given you a warning next time just be a little more cautious
    about where you're posting"

Moderator should be a position of effort & integrity and being genuine & helpful.

Maybe the person doesn't even know the right section anyways, and is going to spend
5 minutes looking for the right section because all he got was "wrong section" in his face.

Kind of what ABM said. It's up to the discretion of the moderator handling it. Not a set rule that they have to move or close, but I understand your frustration. Maybe they should only lock it, as to ensure the 'write up' that an OP made doesn't completely go away when thread is gone.

I think there could be some small change. Something like

    - All improper section posts should be moved not closed followed with a kind reminder of the rules/sections (Warning/Infraction)
    - Unless they are low quality garbage posts (scam, private server advertisement, newcomer account sale, spam, answered questions, resolved issues, etc)

The second option could result in a Warning or No infraction as the thread being removed
and a reason given would technically be a warning.

We're not infracting users for posting a thread wrongly, because this usually happens by accident. Moving threads instead of closing threads is fine however this is more of a personal decision made by the staff team, just as the punishments for scamming and ban evading are; some permanently ban them, some temporarily ban them with a DNT. This is more feedback however, not an actual change to make to Sythe or whatever.

I support. I think all mods should try to get into the habit of this. But i guess it's not the most pressing issue
