[Denied] Gold Vouches Vs Service Vouches

Hi All,

Just wanted to gauge some thoughts on a what I think would be quite a beneficial suggestion, I do not aim to offend anyone when I say the below and just want to open this up for discussion because in my opinion I believe this may be quite the topic.

So primarily within the OSRS market, gold selling and service vouches often work hand in hand, however one of things that seems to always crop up is the power a gold vouch has vs a service vouch.

A gold vouch can be gained in a few minutes and a service

Lets say for instance I as a new user register to sythe.org, I then want to improve my credibility - the quickest way for me to do so is to buy lets say 1000m? I am then going to sell/buy this 1000m to gain as many vouches as possible in a few days, granted I may lose a margin here or there every so often but none the less, I am doing this as an investment.

Now this user has earned 200 vouches in a few weeks. Very proud of themselves, however they worry cash is running low and they only have an initial part of the investment left. This user now needs money again however do not have the capital to buy or sell gold - What am I going to do - Perhaps start a service, this user now has over 200 vouches so can provide some decent/solid credibility to a potential scam victim. They now have access to quite a few accounts, the return on investment has paid off, they now scam all of the customers, they get banned off Sythe, but then are able to start this investment over again.

My suggestion here is for instance when people are able to list especially in thread titles in other sections in which do not involve gold trades
"$5 Donator 200+ Vouches - Hand Trained - Same day services - Cheapest pricing around" -

or something along those lines may look very enticing to a potential sythe user who may be new to the forum, especially with the march changes as made by Jamflex in March where hopefully sythe may have seen a influx of users looking for osrs services after this announcement.

With the above mentioned, I am not saying gold vouches hold no credibility however in comparison to a legitimate job carried out by a service that may have taken a week where significant deposits have been paid by a worker for an ironman account by a legitimate service.

Suggestion -
Gold Vouches Stay in Gold sections
Service vouches stay in service section

Initial Concerns -
People who have worked very hard for years gaining vouches on 1 thread for gold and services may need to separate vouches
Apples and Oranges??

Benefits -
Transparency
Safer for the community
More informed and realistic vouches for specific sections.
Users can clearly see similar services rather than 100 gold vouches with 2 services vouches in between
Allows users to select the best service for the job they would like completed.

When clients ask me about buying safe accounts, one of the tips I give users is to ensure they're always reading THROUGH vouches, and not just looking at numbers. Vouches don't mean much unless you're looking at the quality of them, and whether the user was actually in a position of being trusted. I can go to @video and @King and sell them gold 40 times a week and accumulate a ton of vouches, but if I'm going first, and wasn't actually trusted with anything, are those vouches truly that meaningful?

That said, while I understand where you're coming from; Sythe is an open market, it's up to the clients to inform themselves.

Also, consider how difficult it would be to police as well. How could you ever report a topic that says "$200 donator, 300 service vouches"; are mods really expected to go through and verify how many of a specific type of vouch a user has?

Your heart is the the right place with this one, but ultimately it's just not feasible.

 

I don't see the need for this, however i understand the reasoning behind this post.

To be honest it's not up to Sythe to baby sit people; if people are going to get involved in black market RWT they should understand the risk and read into it, there is plenty of stickies around informing people who too trust, and how to avoid particular scams.
One I see alot is Discord imposter scams, I always check the UID of who i am trading if i am purchasing and only buy from high rep users, this means (50+ Vouches in a position of trust) - Any that where not placing the user in a position of trust i discount.)
I believe people should use common sense even if you're buying something from say Amazon, it's common sense to read the reviews regarding that item, you wouldn't read reviews about a different item would you?

TLR: Basically, people need to check people vouches for what they are purchasing.

I appreciate where your head is, as others have mentioned. Just seems like excessive work though, IMO. No support citing ABM's post.

 

I would support this if they made two different sections perhaps on the same couch page (individuals page) that just columned in two sections. One will be labeled services other would be gold buys/sells
Or at least something along these lines ^
From there the client would be able to distinguish a little better without having to flip through pages.
I do think though at the end of the day there will always be just another way around it & people will still be capitalized in the process by malicious people.
