[Denied] Give ex-OMMs a funrank instead of a minirank

Give the lads a fun rank, as a gesture of good will. Fun rank =/= trust.

 

i agree with Zuzel, OMM was too hard to get for just minirank

 

You're correct in saying that trust is subjective.
A funrank can absolutely be viewed as a sign of trust. Some people view OMM funrank, Ex-Staff funrank, etc. as such. Others do not. To say that they don't/won't imply trust to some degree is naive. Hell, even having a decorated profile with miniranks and a custom UI can provide a certain level of "trust" in the eyes of some buyers and sellers.

 

So are you trying to tell me that a fun rank is going to be viewed as more of a sign of trust than a mini rank stating that they were an OMM?

A large IMG front and center at the top of someone's account sales thread that says "RETIRED OFFICIAL MIDDLEMAN" is going to provide more of a sense of trust than a minirank with zero context unless the user hovered over it.

Again, I do not agree with using retired OMM status to obtain a competitive advantage for personal gain. However, I do respect the work involved to obtain the status. As such, I think fun rank for fun rank is justified. Somewhat contradictory on my part, but that's my opinion.

And most of the OMM was outdated with 2020 trading rules (Discord/Unique ID) and/or didn't trade on a regular base .
I dont think someone that was trading 6 year ago should have a funrank that prove he good at trading (no scam, imposter) when they are not even able to send a proper PM because they have no clue was a UID is.

 

Well if trust is subjective than I could sit here and make the argument that it isn't and we could go back and fourth all day. You're entitled to your opinion which I will respect and for now just agree to disagree.

 

I still think that if giving a fun rank that has 'OMM' in its description is an issue, give a fun rank that is unique to them like other fun ranks and let OMM who had the role at the time of its removal vote on it themselves.

 

No, I don't support giving Ex-OMM Fun ranks. It would give new members that these members have a sign of TRUST.

Yes, I understand they put in the hours previously to obtain this but why we strip the OMM rank and give a Fun-rank that's show's a sign of trust (No longer obtainable to others simply unfair to everyone). If we are going to give Fun mini rank aka sign of trust to Ex-OMM, you might as well reinstate the whole rank where everyone has a chance of obtaining it. What we have currently with Minirank is more than fair for what they have provided over the years.

I believe the OMM's have had their fair share of benefits from the role as it is, the role was monopolized and OMM's reaped the rewards in more ways than just middleman fees.

The OMM's benefit for the site was nowhere near as beneficial as a staff member was/is to the site and should not be compared you say "people should know what their time and experience is worth" but moderators help the people of the site free of charge. They put in the unpaid hours to deserve their fun rank, the 2 are not compareable.

 

Actually not following the proper verification for discord/unique discord Ids could get you removed from OMM team by just 1 mistake without any warning so it wasn't any outdated.

Literally all OMMs before becoming an OMM middlemanned hundreds of trades for totally free. This introdued plenty of people into this community.

 

My opinion on the question at hand (I'm trying to stay unbias):
OMM was EXTREMELY hard to get. Anyone who has attempted to fill in the application & did the work required (even if it wasn't accepted) knows you had to work very hard for it. You did this to help Sythe users without any direct return.
I see that we don't want to use OMM as a sign of trust anymore so what I suggest is keep the minirank, and give every active Ex-OMM a funrank from the current funrank database (so that it can't be seen as a sign of trust) as a sign of goodwill and hard work put into it as tbh a mere minirank is quite an insult to the people who passed the rigorous process.

The OMM stuff wasn't active enough that they should have had the rank still. I understand people might not agree with me on this, and that's completely fine, but you cannot set the standard of it with them not actually actively middlemanning anymore when the rest of us are instead.

 

They didnt make alot but still made some. Not to mention yes they did MM free trades but i belive they also collected vouches from them which means they didnt really waste time right =? They build reputation with it. [well mods cant do that cus they dont collect vouches for all ras posts they deal with and other stuff they do thats why they get funrank]

Im gona say if OMM should get EX-OMM funrank then i would also like to see PR|CDT and all other teams which exsisted and dont anymore to get EX-funranks cus they also spend alot of their free time for this site and they dont have any benefit of it.

Well let's just give them their ranks back then? Since "OLD OMM" and "OMM" basically read the same.

 

If you were getting 30 requests per day you'd add fees aswell to limit that crazy demand.
If OMMs were MMing for free the regular service providers who would like to become OMMs would never get it as they wouldn't have any chances competing with OMMs to pass the application process.
Literally all OMMs middlemanned as regular service for ~1 year for completely free.
The destiny of OMMs has nothing to do than being slave of community forever, it's service and every service sets it own prices so customer can decide if he wants cheaper/free service from not OMM or pay an OMM. In my service I was doing high-value trades for free as OMM.
