[DENIED] Don't deny suggestions in 2 hours

There should be an overhaul of the suggestions board where one staff member can't just reject it, especially extremely quickly, without allowing any real discussion to occur.

Bonus points for rejecting a suggestion because that's not the way things currently work (duh, it's a suggestion for a change.)

Could we actually have some guidelines staff have to follow? Like leave suggestions thread open for at least a week, maybe at least actually vote on it if the majority of the people approve of the suggestion?

Recently we have been going through and closing suggestions during a group discussion. Even if it seems like it was closed by a single person I can assure you that for the large majority of recent handled suggestions there have been discussed by multiple members.

 

This ^ and if you think a moderator is abusing his/her privileges you are free to go to a higher up/talk to the moderator in question.

There is a large amount of suggestions that have been repeated and discussed by the staff team in the past. If that suggestion does not bring something new to the table we are just going to deny it. It doesn't help anyone to have the suggestions forum 3 pages long with things that are constantly denied, while the quality suggestions get buried and forgotten.

 

Staff members need to make it evident and clear on said suggestion threads, that, the decision to approve/deny said suggestion has been prior discussed, and the outcome has been reached via a group-staff discussion.

Transparency and clear communication with the broader member base is key. I know, that suggestions are discussed prior to being approved/denied, but that’s only due to me being a staff member previously. Regular users are likely to presume the opposite.

I also believe that stating why a suggestion has been denied is equally important (within reason of course, spam/troll suggestions need not require a reason - common sense prevails here). This allows users to understand why their suggestion was denied, and also prevents further spam of similar-natured suggestions, as the user proposing a similar-natured suggestion will be able to see why the initial suggestion was denied.

This has been round for years, hence why some suggestions are insta-closed. Of course another reason a suggestion may be closed is it being retarded.

 

As we speak we are currently holding a staff party to go through the suggestions. We'll deny this one as its been here more than 2 hours.

 

All suggestions are discussed as a group before a response is posted. A suggestion may be declined prematurely if it falls in this category: The DO NOT SUGGEST list..
