Remove Excess

Sorry for spamming this thread, I've had a day off work and am ill so haven't really done much.

At work we use Slack, and it has a bunch of channels. If one is inactive for X amount of time then its automatically deleted. This removes all inactive channels.

I can see a few here. You could set a rule that if something doesn't have a thread/reply for 1-2 months, cut it loose. Keeping the site clean for all the new people from advertising lol.

I'd say 1 month is a decent cut off time.

 

What exactly are you suggesting here?

 

In fact, this would be a very good idea for sales channels

Presumably you're referring to the forum, not Discord. If so, we don't delete threads, regardless of thread activity.

 

Old Threads/Sections are crucial for retention of information for purposes such as reports and just general sythe history. For example some reports draw back on posts made months ago to support their arguments.

 

They can check the archives no?

 

Does it really make a difference if Forum X has 500 pages of old threads vs. the Archive forum having 500 pages of old thread?

 

Sorry for any confusion but my idea behind this was if a new user come to the site, they don't see inactive (1-2mo) threads.

 

No support, for many of the reasons listed above, but Super said it best 500 pages one way or 500 pages another.

 

Isn't really worth moving everything around as archives. It's all the same where ever it is.
