[Denied] Disallow DNT / TWC advertising in Sythe Discord.

So.. This is pretty hard to monitor. In fact, it might even be impossible but bare with me here because I’m brainstorming. (This also doesn’t apply as much to TWC, specifically DNT so don’t flame me TWC nerds)

Currently on the Sythe Discord we place our DNT’s and TWC’s at the top amongst our ranks. That’s a good idea because it allows users to say “Hey I’m not suppose to deal with this guy”. But, somehow those little devils amongst us make offers that might appear to good to pass up or give off the idea that an invitation from one of these guys might not be “bad” please see the example below:


If you’re in the discord you can see that you get practically the same thing from the TWC section with users offering “OSRS services etc” (Which again, they’re allowed to do as TWC but still they are place above all other Sythe members who aren’t TWC)

So, to summarize DNT / TWC kind of have a “advertising method” / priority.

My suggestion is to come up with a solution to prevent this. Some solutions I thought of:

1. Create a DNT / TWC specific channel where users can view who’s DNT / TWC. To avoid it being a “lounge” you can simply just discord mute them.

2. Create a DNT / TWC announcement list in the server and then kick out all DNT users. (Idk about TWC)

Now I understand some users are “Voluntarily DNT” that’s super cool and I’m proud of you. But maybe it’s time we also separate the actual DNT’s and Volunteer DNT’s. Turn them into VDNT’s so people know the difference.

I support this. I think there should be some sort of separation or bring back self requested bans.

 

I support that DNT users shouldn’t be able to advertise. That’s just common sense though and I’m surprised it isn’t being enforced by staff. TWC is fine to advertise imo but definitely not DNT. There should be a solely DNT general chat. I don’t feel they should have access to the regular gen chat. But that’s just my opinion.

 

I agree with what you said about TWC. I just personally would think it’d be better for the community if they didn’t advertise above non twc members. I totally agree with what you said about DNT’s I’ve always said this lol.

 

Ya I can definitely see your point for sure. Sometimes people get twc’d though as a slap on the wrist to hopefully get them to change their act like in sending proper pms or perhaps a trade where they were incompetent and it lead to someone getting scammed. I feel some twc users never learn and of course wish they could lose access u til they get their etc removed but like you said it would be extremely difficult to monitor. DNT users though should have absolutely 0 access to advertise or talk in general chat IMO even though I loins some DNT users entertaining to talk to. But that should be another incentive for them to pardon. I don’t know though but I do agree with where your cute heads at.

i think that DNT role on discord should be given all the same permissions as Verified User so that it could be placed below it on the role hierarchy. would there be a problem with this idea? @Dev_Zach

 

Na it seems fine. I actually added a feature in my bot which would auto ban/DNT/TWC all Sythe members in the discord. @Sythe has all my code for that already so he can implement it when he's ready

 

I agree and fully support, at the end of the day you aren’t meant to be trading in sythe at all.

This suggestion is irrelevant. The advertisement that he's reffering to is a users custom status. The server itself cannot do anything about that. Its a discord feature.

 

Right, but did you actually read the suggestion?

 

These users are already labeled do not trade, and are not allowed to use Sythe to advertise on. However, they are able to advertise off our platform and in other Discords so we won't be removing this from them.

As a rule of thumb, if a user has a DNT you should not trade them
