[DENIED]Add a 4 fun "Time Spent on Sythe" Metric to Profiles

1. Encourages more ppl to spend time on Sythe if they wanna rack up time.

2. Shows people how addicted you are to the website.

 

Sounds like a fun little feature, can’t see any downside. Why not?

I have a question tho.
Say I’m on a mobile device, how would the time be calculated when I’m actually viewing Sythe vs when the browser is not on main focus (it’s in the background)?

 

Should also add Sythe gold to it so you're rewarding Sythe gold for being on the site X amount of time... Just think of trying to include SG in more areas.

On a serious note, I don't see it as a vital feature and have never heard demand for it until now. There are tons and tons of 3rd party programs, extensions and plugins that keep track of your browsing time. No support.

What prevents me from writing a script that refreshes a sythe page every 14 minutes and 59 seconds forever? Will I appear to have gained 24 hours of "activity points" every day?

I'm not sure how to separate "real" activity from the fabricated kind outlined above, so it's a no support from me. Posts per day since joining already exists on users' profiles and is a pretty good proxy for how active a user is (in bumping their threads, at least).

 

If it's easy, sure. But right now we already have the "posts per day" and there's a million of Chrome extensions around here which can already do this exact thing, such as TimeStats (which I currently use).

 

I would prefer not to see this lmao.

On a serious note, it doesn't seem very likely this will be implemented. Other than being essentially meaningless, it can very well be abused and shows another forum statistic that no one will care for. I'm sure you can run a stopwatch on your computer and just pause and start it as you get on and off the site.

 

Appreciate the suggestion but we will not implement this for reasons already mentioned above.
