Bumping in the market

I'm sort of having an issue with the warnings mods are giving in the market for "bumps." How about instead of explaining, I just give an example of what I'm talking about?

Original Poster (OP): Selling my account, it's so pro, yada yada yada. - 2:00 PM.
OP: Bump. - 10 PM.
New Poster: How much are you looking for the account? - 10:30 PM.
OP: (In response to New Poster) $50.00 please. - 11:00 PM.
Moderator: Watch your bumps, it's one per every 8 hours, one more and it's an infraction.

I've noticed this situation a lot in the market recently. Basically, the OP will just be responding to a question before his 8 hours for another bump is up. I don't understand how this counts as a bump...

If you must answer a customers question, feel free to pm them or edit your previous post. Regardless if its answering a question or not, it still breaches the 8 hour rule.

 

I'm the one who reported your post, and frankly a "bump" is considered bumping yourself to the top of the page.

If you'd like to discuss business with said person, there's messaging or Skype.

It's a Forum rule and therefore you must abide to it.

 

I'm not talking about my post... I'm talking about everyone's. But Ziggily answered my question. I didn't realize replying to someone breached the 8 hour rule. Thanks everyone for answering.

 

So let me make this clear.

This is not allowed:
User bumps
1hr later customer asks a question
User replys in less than 1hr after the question, so within 2hrs.

But this is allowed?
User bumps
10 hours later customer asks a question
User replys in less than 1hr after the question

 

Should be allowed to respond to someone if they post on your thread regardless of the time limit. That is retarded..

 

That doesn't make any sense...we should be allowed to respond with a new post if there is a question, that has always been the case.

 

Not to step on your toes or anything, but this is incorrect.

If the post is constructive and responding to a post that has been made since their last bump (bump being defined as a post only containing a small amount of information like an online status update or an order count.)

I'vent checked the rules in a bit, but I've been here long enough to know that's just how it works. Obviously you're going to have different moderators look at different cases and rule in opposing ways from time to time, but the above is the standard that users and their reviewing authorities should follow.

 

Ok so this is the bumping rule I found here:

Posting for the sole purpose of increasing post count

Yet what you do should be considered spam. You post in the threads you report for the extra post count.

 

Ya he does. Completely agree on that. Every single bump that might be considered spam or bumping too early, he has something to say.

 

Imo this is dumb. You must be able to reply to ur customers..

 

To clarify, you can reply to your customers. You just can't double post within 8 hours. Also if regular users are continually posting to point out violations, just report their posts and a moderator will handle the situation.
