Debate: Is Runescape a waste of time?

I believe it's subjective. Everyone wastes time watching movies, playing video games, etc. It's the same thing, you don't get more than entertainment out of it.

If you do gain something out of it (e.g sold gold), then it might not be a complete waste of time. It's true that time could be better spent doing something more productive than playing RuneScape, though.

If you enjoy playing runescape, then it's not a waste of time.

I afk NMZ / splashing 18 hours a day, AND I go to the gym 6 times a wek

There are 2 sides of this whole thing.

From one point of view it may look that playing video games, watching movies are waste of time, because you could spend your time doing better things as learning a new language, getting better at your craft etc.However most of us agree that to live a happy and enjoyable life you need to do anything that you like.In other words you do, what makes you happy.If someone is happy grinding something on Runescape for 16 hours a day, thats completely fine by me.One thing to consider though, it's well known fact, that video games can be addictive.So i am fine with people playing a lot if they dont cross line of addiction.If that happens, thats the different story.

One more thing for a side note, i read somewhere that in order to live a balanced and happy life you need to spread your time evenly into 3 peaces.Those splits are:

Work
Sleep
Doing something that you like

 

If you use it as a means to sell gold, offer questing/skilling services, and make enough money to sustain yourself then obviously it is not a waste of time.
If you play it for fun then it is a waste of time.

 

If you enjoy it, then why is it a waste of time? look at what other people do with their lives... I mean some people get enjoyment out of jumping off cliffs, and some get it when they play computer games

 

why would you waste your time out in the sun when you can grind on rs
