Death Note - Netflix

So hows everyone feeling about this?

 

It looks terrible. Animes should stick to being animes. The plot is not ideal for a real life remake.

 

Looks like they made what was an intellectual warfare thriller into an action style movie. Not a big fan. Also, are they really trying to squeeze the entire anime into one movie? Wtf?

 

I am going to watch it, but I am going in with very low expectations. Like you said how can they fit that whole plot into two hours.

 

The only thing that I'm excited for is that they casted Willem Dafoe for the shinigami.

I don't think there is a better actor to cast than him.

I think the rest of it will make me cringe and want to throw up at how bad it will be. Super low expectations..

I mean, the trailer looked pretty good to me. I've already heard about this but haven't watched the trailer. I actually thought they'd be making separate episodes rather than a movie... I feel like it'd be hard to fit an entire anime into a movie. I'm gonna give it a shot anyway though.

 

This- when I first heard about a Netflix adaptation I was hoping for a series not a movie.

 

I think it'll be a bust but hopefully it'll be an amazing movie. I've just got my doubts about it since it's a "real life" anime movie.

 

Others have bombed for sure.

 

I think the movie would be a better watch for people who didn't watch the anime. It's really basic compared to the show and I didn't find L to be a good character at all compared to the anime.

I'd give it a 6/10. It was an entertaining movie, but it fell short by a mile when comparing it to the anime.

 

Bogla you're so wrong, you're so so so wrong.

1) The biggest problem with the live action is the fact L is black, this has nothing to do with racism but when you think of L you don't think of a black person. L is malnourished, he is tidy (in multiple scenes he is just grabbing candy and spilling it everywhere) and L wouldn't show his face in public. How did he know he needed a name + face to kill just because he want faceless into the public?

2) Light actually falls in love with Misa, this is nothing like the anime. Light is an emotionless monster who only wants to use her, in this movie he actually loved her. He also is supposed to be a top tier model (not doing peoples homework for chump change..)

I could list so much, but it's overall a teenage angst movie with 0 enjoyment and it's nothing like the anime.

This movie is more like Death Note's retarded little brother.

 

Watched about 20 minutes of this at a friend's house and left the room lol. Willem Dafoe is actually pretty good at least, not that I would expect anything otherwise.

 

Watched 5mins and turned it off.

Absolutely horrendous.

The anime is a 10/10, and this movie is not even worth a rating.

 

I've seen a few live action anime and the only one I actually liked was for Ansatsu Kyoushitsu. The rest were poorly made and everything.
IMO this one looks really cheesey like the majority of them and just really freakin weird. BOOOOOOO

Personally i'd give it a 4/10. Only cause the acting was OK.

Nothing matches with the anime and it very short compared to the anime of course.

It ended up being horrible imop. Turned it into a crappy horror. Anime should stay anime

 

If you haven't watched Death Note Anime, and you watch this movie, it will probably be fine.

But if you have watched and loved the anime, you are probably gonna get triggered... like me. xd
