Dazzle DVD Capture Card - help?

So, I've got a Dazzle Instant DVD Recorder, don't know the exact make, though I did buy it for $40. It is also white, not the platinum. So I have been trying to record video with my x-box to post on youtube. If you look around on youtube, you will see many different ways as to setting it up, using splitters, female adapters, rca cables, etc. I have all of that, I have set it all up. So when I go to open the software (Pinnacle Instant DVD Recorder), a screen comes up:



You can choose either basic, or advanced. I choose Advanced.

Now, this comes up:



I have changed all of the setting to whatever I can try, but there is a consistent problem. I can't change the 'Select total recording time'. It is stuck at 0 minutes. Nothing will change this. So, if i click 'Start Recording', this comes up:



Nor can I view a preview of my recording. The picture in the top right, which is a bluish background, is consistent with my desktop background. That probably doesn't mean anything, but I am throwing it out there.

Before you post, please don't ask me if I am sure the cables are plugged in / placed correctly, I know they are. It would especially help if someone here has ever used one before, or has one that they have had the same problem.

By the way, if you use beginner / wizard mode, the same thing happens. instead of seeing a menu, it asks you to set it up your source, burner, menu etc one at a time.

Make sure an open dvd is in. Thats the best i can offer.

What a coincidence. I just bought the Pinnacle DVD Recorder blah blah blah the other week and my friend and I use it to record our Rock Band videos. But anyways, back to your problem, the only thing I could see, which is based off of your picture, is that in the top left corner under capture source, select the other one. I don't remember exactly what it is, because I don't have it installed on this computer, but I think it's something like Pinnacle recording device. But yeah, it's the only other option under the drop down list, so just try that. What are you using it for, anyways?

 

You have your input and output cords backwards, or set up incorrectly.
