I've more than blatantly thrown facts out there, and made good points, about why a person is more than likely a scammer. Even quoting other users that are posting "attempted scam, scammer, etc" and then, I go back to the thread days later, and it's still there and the guy is not banned?

Let's take 7 somethin something something (I think he is 72231 or something like that)

I MORE than gladly pointed out him attempting to scam other people, attempting to scam me, and the fact he has MULTIPLE accounts. And it took a person to actually get scammed by the guy for ANYONE to do anything.

I understand you can't just go off and ban someone, but if someone like me, with sense, comes and makes some points in a topic, PLEASE TAKE THEM INTO SUGGESTION. Everyone so far, that I have pointed towards being a scammer, is, and has been. Every single one. I don't keep track of them, I am not some "l33t scammer catcher" that's devoted his life to catching scammers, I am just someone with common sense that can catch a scam.

With this being said, we need a new group.

This group isn't for people who are dedicated to finding scammers
This group isn't for people who occasionally catch a scammer
This group isn't for people who don't have any common sense whatsoever
This group isn't for the people that just post "He's a scammer!"
This group isn't for the guy who has "I've caught 9842301" scammers
This group isn't for the person who likes to keep track, or be acknowledged of finding a scammer.
This group isn't for OMM's or MM's

This group IS for people who generally know how a scammer works, his ways, and can easily enough spot a scammer without over doing it and making false accusations without any underlying proof of suspicious activity or offers

We don't need dedicated people to it, we just need a group of people. No powers, no nothing. Their only ability? A public section in which they can only post in, and a section in which they can talk amongst themselves and discuss possible scammers, and what they are trying to do.

I can possibly discuss this more with an Administrator, but I would like to take Leadership of a program of such extent. The group of THEM, the group of Market Guru's

Recently, upon seeing posts around in the market area, I have found many scammers using fake ways and tricks to getting an account.

What are Market Gurus?
The Market Gurus will be a simple group, nothing more, nothing less. These users will have a special title, and should be talked with the up most respect and trust. They will ensure a safe trade, and possibly give tips on going through with a trade, giving key facts in going through with one. They must know the system in and out. They will catch scammers, and flag suspicious users. They will investigate and discuss with each other on what actions need to be taken, if a user is deemed a scammer, and if a user needs to be traded with caution
  • Ability to spot a scammer
  • Ability to understand how a scam may work
  • Ability to spot scams
  • Ability to spot fake reports of scammers
  • Ability to under go a thorough investigation, pin pointing major keyfact's in proving of a scammer
  • Ability to see, and spot a suspicious character
  • Ability to talk to possibly talk to both sides, and get down to the facts. Not talk around like a idiot getting "He or she said" facts
  • Ability to actively view the forums, and give helpful tips to ensure a safe trade
  • Ability to trick scammers.

What would you do, DerpDerp, as the Master Market Guru?
  • Identify users which can be a possible candidate for the group
  • Be up most respectful to members, and reading reports thoroughly and carefully, discussing with the team the best action to take.
  • Report to an Administrator for users that need to be deemed a Scammer or users that need to be Traded With Caution
  • Identify possible corrupt group members
  • Thoroughly, and accurately try to understand a scamming process. To further educate the community on possible scams.
  • Actively be in community discussion and taking feedback of the teams work, and suggestions.

RANKS

--These ranks need to be added to ensure we can work in a managed environemnt

--Lead Market Guru
--Market Guru
--Market Guru's mark of "Trade With Caution" (We will not use the normal Trade With Caution rank)
--Market Guru's "Scammer" mark (This will allow the user to be in the community, but not have access to the Market section)
--Market Guru's "Under Investigation" mark (These users are currently under investigation because of suspicious activity)

Take my idea, or allow me to start this system up myself. None the less, this system will be great, if handled correctly.

This wont happen, but I do like the idea of a section to discuss scammers, sort of like the a community watch where the community takes care of itself, however I don't think it will be implied.

You can support the idea or abandon it.

While I see the reason you can post "This won't happen" having support for such a group, and not just throwing it out like old milk.

The Administrators, may, and possibly, will, say "No." to this.

We need not only Moderator support, we need community support as a whole. We need to give them a reason to say Yes.

It's not so much that we need more people to work in the market, we just need members to post actual proof that they have been scammed instead of posting chat logs.

*Justified double post. I will address each post in another one, to have a more direct conversations. Feel free to merge my posts, or even infract me, but my posts are contributing to an active discussion of a possible new group that can greatly benefit our community*

Yep, that would be great. I do see a lack of proof on the report side of most reports, but why wait until a scammer get's what he wants to ban him? Why throw away a post that could save someone from loosing money, for sole fact that it "Has no screenshots, or video" when it has key facts that point the person to a possible scam?

We can, and will do much more that will benefit the community. Long term and short.

We should take people that have the most market experience and make a group. Not random people(sorry DerpDerp), people that have been here a while and have gained respect as a business on sythe.

I understand what your saying about the multiple accounts, but saying a person is TRYING to scam?

thats not really a justifiable reason for a banning...maybe a warning?

That would certainly be wrong.

It would be approachable by a Trade With Caution if sufficient proof of suspicious activity was found.

Yea, that's understandable, but banning people for suspicious activity is going to make the site lose members.

Also, a TWC could make a member leave, so, maybe a warning, then a TWC would be more appropriate.

I know and understand why we need proof but goddamn when 20 fucking straight threads have people saying someone is a scammer, example gig45 or whatever the fuck his name is, more then likely they are a scammer.

Thats the only thing that annoys me.

With regard the idea: Certain parts are alright. I wouldn't mind having a market guru forum where these gurus can discuss potential scammers/post priority reports. If done right almost all of the reports would be right/moderators don't waste time.

Your own rank idea is a big no (besides the Lead Market Guru). The trade with caution/under investigation would be abuse too much.

I MORE than gladly pointed out him attempting to scam other people, attempting to scam me, and the fact he has MULTIPLE accounts. And it took a person to actually get scammed by the guy for ANYONE to do anything.

If you posted proof of the attempted scam, he'd be banned. Along with the multiple accounts(if they interact).

Users will be banned permanently for the following:

- Scamming: or any suspicious behavior similar to scamming (i.e. attempting to scam)

According to the rules it already is.

If you're trying to kill someone, shoot, but your gun jams, you don't deserve a warning. You deserve to get charged with attempted murder (which usually results in a sentence length close to murder).

Attempted scamming is the exact same thing. Why wouldn't you get rid of them on the spot, anyways? They're only going to attempt to scam again and probably succeed.

Bottom line is if someone can provide clear evidence of an attempted scam, they'll be banned.

how can you say that someone is ATTEMPTING to scam?

how can you say that someone is ATTEMPTING to scam?

Something such as attempting to use an imposter of an OMM to middleman a trade.

I think that this is an interesting idea, but it seems basically like adding more market mods to sythe, and non-moderators should not have the ability to add a twc to a user.

DerpDerp has had a scammer report made about him or someone posted in his thread accuding him lol, oh the irony.

Also, this seems to me like scammers gone good, only a scammer would know exactly what to look out for.

Or actually pay attention to what the hell you are doing instead of getting your balls in a bunch for a Runescape account..

When I created my "Make 200-300$ a month by selling me your account" thread it was filled with

Fake! It's a scam!

When they knew nothing about the system, or even added me to ask questions. I then had Ben clear out the thread.

The "TWC" and "Under Investigation" ranks would only be able to be handed out by either A. The Administrators or possible B. the Leader Market Guru.

Of course we are not going to give people the power to change ranks, how foolish would the Administrators be if they went and did that?

Nice idea, but like you said, these peoples would need to have a good knowledge about the rules and how things work. One thing is certain tho, the market section needs more mods.

Us needing more Market Mods needs to be addressed in another thread :)

More feedback guys.

I agree. From the past two years at sythe, I've gotten scammed a total of $700. I'd have to estimate that over 80% of the people in the accounts market does scam. I think this would be a good idea to eliminate many scammers :P.

Yea, I'm so fucken sick of the scammers.

I would say 95% of people on these forums are scammers. I'm not over doing it either, I seriously believe that.

how can you say that someone is ATTEMPTING to scam?

If they're using a fake OMM multiple times, lying about having possession of an account, trying to sell an account they've already sold, etc.

Sure they haven't sold the account again yet or scammed someone using the fake OMM, but they're attempting to.
