creating an icon for my vb6 file

I have a program to make icons, but I always get an error saying that it's not the right picture format. Does anyone know of an icon creating program where I could just take my .gif file, and create a usable icon with it? Thanks

 

"persuans icon builder" is great for converting formats to .ico. (the name is incorrect i can't remember it).

but i myself use liquid icon.

 

or you could use Gimp and then just set the sve type as .ico . Thats what i do

I like and use "Pop-a-BMP to ICO". It gets the job done since just saving the file as an .ico doesn't work. Yes it's free, just do a google search for it. And it's virus-free.
