Support. I don't think the 48 hour ban do much to effect the user besides banning him for two days.

A permanent ban should be enforced; if it is deserved.

A brand new user might come in to a thread and say "Lol, smoke weed bro. The effects are really awesome."

In his mind, he may think this is a perfectly legitimate post, but to other more educated members, it may seem to be a fleeting, mocking remark.

There should be a certain level of restraint in handing out bans, but if a permanent ban should be required, I would ask no less.

    @Finn, thanks for posting mate.

Jesus, permanent bans for mockery... Might as well cut out the tongues of people who swear too much in real life.

I figure that it is entirely acceptable, considering the sensitive nature of the Personal Support forums.

Considering posting in Personal Support is completely optional, I'd say removing that optional privilege is very appropriate. Market bans are much more severely handed out, I assure you.

    :noworry:

Say these people were swearing inside a Mormon church (for example), with total disrespect to those that are inside it, then yes, they deserve to have their tongues removed.
Hmm, maybe that analogy was a bit unclear, but the point is, the people that post in the Personal Support forum are looking for genuine help from genuine people. Sometimes it takes a great deal of effort for them to put themselves out there to tell their problems to people they don't even know. We at Sythe should respect their feelings and give them the sanctity of a forum where they know that their problems will be responded with real solutions, not mindless trash.

Then perhaps someone should've anticipated that there would be posts like that before they decided to open such 'sensitive forum'.

I assume you're talking about permanent sectional bans? Well, that I can agree with, but I was talking the "permanent" permanent bans. A guy called Shall Skill was permed for telling a guy 'to go die' in there and was never pardoned, despite having been fairly trusted.

Your analogy makes sense, but my point is that it shouldn't be a permanent ban, because that would only encourage vading and scamming for them, since that's what most people would do out of rage.

I do agree with the fact that a forum permanent ban is too harsh, but a forum specific permanent ban is appropriate. People that can't learn to control their mouth should be given no chances in a sensitive forum like this.

If people read the stickys there isn't an issue. I've ventured into that forum a few times and have had to bite my tongue because i believed people were trolling. I just ignore that section for the most part now. I don't really think people in need of help should be seeking it from members of sythe, save for a special few; Gohan etc. Considering most people on here are younger than 20

I wonder when admins are going to put back Personal Support Mods again, there's a rank for it, and it would be useful for this cases of mass spam.

Yeah, permanent bans shouldn't be handed out for misconduct in the Personal Support forum. It should be just a permanent ban from the section, not from the entire forum.

Well, I think depending on the what the user says can either warrant a forum ban from Personal Support or a permanent ban. What they say CAN affect lives, so we should be pretty strict there. I have to agree with The Black Tux, either globals take care of the section, or personal support moderators.

    cool story tell it again.

Lol jk, but yeah, they should. It can really offend a lot of people when they're in a bad mood. Could make them do irrational things. Like smoke weed for example.

Total support, I've had suggestions like this for personal support in the past, it looks like with an admin backing it, it gets more support.

The only problem is that globals should take care of more important things, while personal support mod rank is there but nobody is. :p

I'd like to point out that we sectionals can issue infractions anywhere in Sythe. We can also request forum bans. You guys can all do your part to help by continuing to report posts even though there is no PSA mod. We'll get something done about it, and hopefully in a more expedient manner. The IP banning that happened every 5 reports seems to be gone finally. ^_^

I believe finn sums it up quite nicely. If you see someone blatantly being abusive here, then please PM myself, another global, or if none are available, contact a sectional to get them a temporary ban at least.
