Country lock[Potential new donor perk?]

I would like to suggest something similar to what HF has:

The ability to lock access to your account to a specific country, this will prevent foreign hackings/hackers from gaining access to peoples accounts who refuse/wont activate 2fa all in a few clicks.

My account is locked solely to the United States, this would help security on sythe greatly and is INSANELY easy to do for people.

When your account is locked to a country:

When your about to first lock your account to a country:

The system auto detects what country your IP is coming from and allows you to lock your account to that country.

I would like discussion to be open as to if this should be a donor perk or not, On HF IT IS.

If this is a additional donor perk, I suggest it to be for $100+ donors as they desperately need something.

But you can just vpn to a certain country and still hack them so what's the point?

 

It doesn't allow you to lock a vpn or other IP in, I assume the system staff use to see if its a home IP can be intergrated to make sure that isn't an issue.

HF shares a similar system.

Also even if they could login a vpn, its another roadblock to hackers.

 

I can't imagine I am the only one who VPNs 24/7 when on the web, this would be useless to anyone who uses at VPN even for a small part of their day as they wouldn't be able to look at sythe

Security measures should never be locked behind a donor paywall, that's like saying 'lol we don't care bout you as a member til you donate us some dolla boiiii'

 

a major side effect to consider regarding my suggestion, it would greatly decrease the amount of VPN and vps usage, it would also become a road block to ban evaders, if they activated it they couldnt access their accounts via vpns/proxys from other countries guys, they'd have to either keep it disable(which may appear suspicious) or use their real IP or they'd have to get a proxy/vpn in the country their locked into.

This would also help stop fake hackings where people login and try to claim they were hacked- if they have country lock on it'd be a tool for staff to check if they were actually hacked aswell.

No, it won't, it literally doesn't deter VPN/VPS usage at all because people simply wouldn't use it, or would use it for their VPS/VPN.

Suspicion doesn't matter because it's not proof and no1 will give a shit

Could just lock it to their VPN/proxy's ip.

Again, people planning "fake hacks" simply won't have that function on or disable it when they get "fake hacked' because again, suspicion =/= grounds for a ban

2FA would be more usefull then this in any way shape or form.
