Need some ideas for The Elder Kiln (quest, not cape)

Alright, one of my goals for the account I'm making is to get the Ythaar title (the 100k experience doesn't hurt either ) and normally this wouldn't be a problem but the account is 1 defence, 31 prayer.

I'm not going to be getting either any higher, though every video I've watched the player has either had protection prayers (if 1 defence) or vengeance (if 40+ defence with sub-37 prayer). I know it's possible to complete without both of these -albeit difficult and luck dependent- but do you guys have any tips? I was thinking of using ruby bolts (e) and recoils but I'm not sure how well that'll work for the double 360's...

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Current combat stats if they help:
60 attack
70 strength
1 defence
80 range
82 mage
31 prayer
71 hp
28 summoning

 

use polypore that is a necessary and look for safespots a good safespot is near one of the corners if i remeber correctly

 

Why don't you want to raise prayer?

 

It's definitely doable and not even that difficult. Bring sweets, brew flasks, and use safe spots and you'll be fine. Also instead of ruby bolts you can use dragon fire, which have a healing effect. Diamond would also be very effective because your ranged is low and you'll have a low ranges bonus.

Also bring a pair of d claws and use them to hopefully dispatch a 360 in two or three attacks.

 

i believe it may be the onyx ones that have the healing effect not sure if they are the enchanted dragon fire ones tho

 

Oh yeah king's right -- onyx (e) are healing bolts.


The big key is safe spots. Gear helps, but avoiding damage is the real factor. Since you can't protect from the 360's attacks you will need to get lucky and hope they don't OHKO you. Keep your HP above max with brews, and learn to trap one so that you're only fighting one at a time. Also, it may come down to claw spec one/hit it with a few bolts and then wait 5 minutes to get spec back before trying the other.

If you haven't yet, using the one-hit darts can also help a lot. I'd personally use them on corp with a 1-def pure, since doing the Elder Kiln without pray would be a fun achievement.

As stated above, purple sweets will be your best friend on this journey. You'll need to camp/hug a LOT of hiding spots throughout the entire kiln and it'll take a butload of time but it's doable. I'd suggest practicing with just 1 jad in the fight cave though or even on private server simply to get a hang of your prayer toggling.
