Corporal Punishment

In Britain up until about 25 years ago there was something in schools called corporal punishment (I'm not sure if America and other countries had this aswell) The idea was that if you behaved badly you would be caned, tawed, whiped or slapped. You could get this for having bad hand writing, having your elbows on the desk, talking and any other bad behaviour.

I'm asking what do you think about Corporal Punishment and do you think it should be allowed back into our schools?

 

Yes we did have this in America, funny thing when I was in 5th grade my teacher hit me. I should have reported that bitch, but I'm off topic.

No, I don't think it should be allowed in schools anymore. I mean it's not like I'm against hitting little kid's, I just don't see it as necessary.

 

Yeah I know what you mean. In my school however there is alot of people who think they are "cool" and "the real thing" my english teacher goes on near enough every day how he wishes corporal punishment was back in schools when someone misbehaves. I also think that if there was corporal punishment people wouldnt really care about getting hit, Most people in my schools parents are addicts and junkies who probably hit their kids all the time.

 

Schools need more capital punishment imho.

You think that schools should receive the death penalty for misbehaving/capital offences?

A single mother sends her child to school for the day hoping he will move further in his education. He is quite small and wears glasses which makes some people call him a nerd and geek. On this day the boy goes and outside the school door the school bully is there waiting for him. he says "Hey geek! give me your lunch money" the biy refuses and stands up for himself which causes a fight. both boys are pretty bloody and they both receive capital punishment for their little scuffle.

Is that what you want to happen or have I got it all wrong? :/

The schoolyard would definitely be a less violent place

 

If you've seen any educational programmes on the subject, Kids were literally scared to missbehave.. And now that it's gone the class rooms are a joke. It's like the police back then, if you gave them lip they would beat you .. And now there are thousands of missbehaving kids with ASBOS. Back then there were no where near as many problems. I think if it was put back into class rooms alot of problems would be sorted out.

EDIT: And to answer the question, Yes i do think it should be put back into use.

 

Yea, i dont think it's neccasary to do so, They should just give him Writing Assignments and Detentions.

They would only see violence if some one missbehaved. It's not like a teacher doesn't like the look of some one so they send them to the headmasters office to be caned. It's simple, If you or your child behaves there should be no problem.

 

i think it should be back in schools......not for handwriting or elbows on the desk but just for misbehaving i believe that it would calm a lot of the trouble makers down....i mean very few people like being hit and if you do...i don't know what to tell ya

Absolutely not. Using physical contact as a punishment is absurd. If the child does something wrong you give them a punishment based on their age.

If the child is young then a time-out would be in order. If the child is older then detention/suspension. Hitting them will do nothing, except getting you sued.
