I'm sure that's true but what could they have possibly needed to do to get the server going? They had a full backup they probably just needed to get hosting and all that stuff ready to go. I'm sure they will continue to make small changes but the game is ready to go live.

Yea, it's not like it was going to take a long time.

They just wanna make sure its stable, everything is where it should be, there aren't snippets of code missing etc.

Are they making us pay right away for this Friday? Or is it more of a test server, to make sure everything runs with the traffic as well as to raise some hype so more people vote?

It says they are opening the servers up this friday to people who have voted or who do vote in the next week that the poll is live. So I assume that this is not a test server or beta type thing because they say there will be no rollbacks unless there's a major problem.

Just got back from a job interview the same time as live chat T_T i almost foamed at the mouth seeing the friday date.

Not initially, no. The only way back in 2007 to get a “rare” (and by that I mean discontinued items like party hats) was to get it from another player, and since nobody will have rares, they won’t be available.
However…
If we do get over 500k votes on the poll, we are going to create a dedicated development team big enough to create actual updates for the 2007 servers. One of those updates could be to add old rare items to the game. We will of course work with the 2007 community to decide what those updates are.

Those sneaky bastards lol I see this making more than one person mad enough to just disappear but oh well nuts to them.
