Hey guys, I was looking on google to see if I could find an answer. . .but I couldn't. SO I figured I would try here since there's a lot of smart computer guys and girls here.

OK so here's the problem, My computer is a V2premier windows XP. Pretty old I know, but other then this problem it runs fast (enough for me). Has enough memory to hold all of my songs etc. . .

I have these CD-R disks that I have ALWAYS USED since I first got the computer to burn all my music onto. There Fujifilm CD-R 80min, 700mb cds if you want to know.

Oh also, the computer does have a cd burner, and a dvd burner.

So anyway, I pop a blank disk into the slot. It doesn't even acknoledge that, it usually comes up with the option like (open disk to view files, Burn disk via kodak e z share, burn disk, etc.

So I manually go into drive E. Put in the files I want to burn, this is what comes up

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks =)

When you insert the disk into the tray and it goes into the drive, do you hear the disk spin up?

right click My Computer | Manage | Device Manager | check to see if there are any yellow question marks.

If so try to find the cd driver off the internet.

Tried that after you posted it, it says everything is good.

Well, It spins up when I put it in the DVD drive, but does NOT spin up when I put it in the Cd rom drive.

Sorry for the late response sythe hasn't been loading for me lately =\.

Thanks so far, keep the ideas and solutions coming por favor =)

its your laser, its broke, you'll need to buy a new cd rom, because replacing the reader (laser) will prob cost more than getting a new one lol, theyre only like 30$ (ncix.com)

ooooh, thats prob it then =), thanks. BUT its a bit odd that both the lasers go at the same time? Because I have a CD rom drive and a dvd burner drive. Neither of them work

Well mate, you can change your cd drive..it is not that expesive..

What happens if you insert a CD with pre-written data into the drive? So both the DVD and Cd drive's have stopped working?

the dvd burner spools the disk up, BUT does not read it. The cd rom doesn't even acknowledge it.
yah thats wierd, i though tonly 1 stopped working, have u done an analysis on them? theres programs to analyse their performance, those shud tell u whats wrong.

I scanned the drive it says everything is good

Is the cable plugging them into the Motherboard alright?
That's the only thing i can think of unless you managed to fry both of them simulatneously.
