Computer help ! Thinking of rebuilding if I can or add on ?

Well unfortunatly for you I'm unable to find the exact specifications on that computer model, most likely because of it's age. Right off the bat you're going to save the case, but you're going to have to look inside your computer to find out if your HDD/Optical drives are IDE or not. Because if they are then you'll need 2 IDE to Sata adapters with your parts, still better than paying $100. Also you're going to have to check up on your Power Supply to find out the maximun wattage output. You can find a guide on google of how to do this. For now I'll take a look at mobo, cpu, gpu parts for you.

If you are looking to use the same motherboard, get a q9550 cpu, or any quad core socket 775 intel cpu. Then get 4 gigs of ddr2 533mhz ram. Not sure what the price on that will come to, but try and get atleast a gtx550 gpu if you want to game.

I strongly advise against using the same motherboard. It'll cost over $60 for 4GB of RAM, when you can spend $20-25 on a 4GB ddr3 stick. Also the processor you picked seems to be pretty expensive. There's no way you can swing all that with the 550 ti, which is $130 by itself.

If you plan on adding a dedicated GPU, you're also going to have to bump up your power supply which will run you into some money. You can simply add another $25 for 8GB of ram. You still have around $90 until you hit $300, in case something comes up you can just cover it.

 

I know, but i have no clue what this guy wants. A few posts ago he said he wanted to just upgrade this systemm so i gave him parts for his current mobo. I told him to look at that stuff if he is intent on usong the same motherboard, if not go with an amd fm1 mobo and chip.

 

I stated what i wanted in the first post lol, its an old comp i have just trying to let my buddys come play on it haah.

You could if you want to, but remember that money can always be invested in something else. I do think that 100GB HDD isn't much to begin with though.

 

2tb is a ton, chances are you wont use more than 300 gigs if your doing fine with 100.

 

I just said 2tb because I want atleast 1 and it was 20 more for another , Seems like a good deal. My 100GB harddrive has been cleaned MANY times lol. I think im Just going to build almost a whole new computer. So if I buy those parts is there anything else I would need?

 

Just let me know if you decide to just build a new computer. You can install your new OS using the optical drive, or by a USB. As of right now you're reusing the case and powersupply, if you'd like to simply fully build you own I can get both for under $100. Now of course you're over the $300 budget, but getting a whole new computer is pretty sweet.

 

Alright champion I might just do what your saying and sell this crap computer for like 50 dollars on CL. Ill sell my ipod 4th gen too, Then ill have around a $500 budget. Is there anyway you can make me a nice computer with links to run games smooth on liek med setting for 500?

Is a little over your budget but will 100% be able to play the games you want smoothly on medium, and on even higher settings. I excluded the DvD drive from this, and took away 4 Gb of ram, you can add back this stuff for about $20 each.

I think you've just need to change motherboard+A6 or A8 AMD CPU + 3Gb DDR3. The A6 or A8 AMD CPU have powerfull build-in videocard for all today's games.
Thats all you've need and it will be arround your 300$ bugdet.
