Compaq laptop problems!!!

Well I got a Compaq presario laptop quite a while ago ( maybe 2-3 years now ) and now all of a sudden I am having problems with it turning on, now I know Compaq has been know for these kinds of problems and I have searched it but people show so many ways to fix and alot of them don't work so now I am asking you can you help me by any chance?

Problems:
When I turn it on the power switch lights up
When I charge it ( which I usually am ) the charging light also turns on
When I turn it on the hard disk turns on for a second or two then stops

Now mine does turn on sometimes it dosen't always do this because it turn's on every now and then but it is happening alot more now and I don't want this to be a permanent problem so please help.

id consider ringing them up and if its on insurance get a new one?

When you turn your computer on, generally, the power switch goes on too. When you charge it, the light also usually goes on. What's wrong with that?

Are you sure its nothing wrong with your hard drive? If you're sure that's what's making the noise, you should have it checked out.

I am sure it is not my hard drive because I have seen many encounter this problem with a Compaq presario, I don't have insurance for this one, and this comuter turns on every now and then but sometimes this problem occurs and it is happening more frequently now.
