just want to make sure this was in the era where magic was like range where it only effects your combat if it is above atk n str or w\e right?

He is referring to how magic and range level affects combat levels.

OP - I got no idea atm, but I believe that you can have the same range/mage level and not gain combat levels, dependant that you dont get hp up.

No I have been playing since the beginning of runescape classic they have changed the combat system numerous times

I remember rsc use to have it where every 3-4 magic levels gave you a combat level regardless of your other stats. I was just wondering if it was like that or the attack + half the strength thing but you have answered the question I needed to know thanks.

I believe if you get a certain amount of range, or magic level's it raises up your combat regardless.

Your magic or ranged will affect your combat if it is higher than your combined attack and strength.

For example

30 att + 30 str + 59 Ranged = Based on Melee
30 att + 30 str + 61 Ranged = Based on Ranged
