Anybody know why community general requires MODERATOR approval to start a thread in?

Like its community general for discussions among the community, introductions etc.

I legitimately cant think of 1 good reason why it requires moderator approval.


I mean the section is dead besides CDT posting events and stuff in it.


Can this get removed please, might breath a little bit of life into it.


If you haven't noticed the pattern, I'm trying to prod the staff/CDT into encouraging section activity even if its low, some of this stuff that's in place is blowing my mind.​

Fix please .​

 

To me, that section is used for fun discussion and sort of like community news (not befitting of the news section). I don't see why not, other than people potentially using that section for giveaways.

 

100% Support on this, we need all the activity that we can get on these forums.

 

It's supposed to be a bit more civil section, where community-related events etc get posted. It's not supposed to be a QA forum, but often gets used as one by new members. Those threads are approved and moved by the community mods.

I'm never going to support changing the forum to be automatically approved, and I hope other community mods agree on this one.

 

You'd prefer the first page of community general goes all the way back to feb 20th then...?


It's nearly a month inbetween the first and the last lolz.

 

I'd like it more active, correct, but this suggestion is not the way, at all.

 

Dumb topics is better than zero topics.

 

I'd disagree, I'd rather it be low-activity yet all the topics relevant than have a cesspool of shit, which is what allowing dumb topics would eventually degenerate into.

I'd take dumb activity over 0 activity.


I mean for gods sake I've seen sections DELETED for having posts on the first page from a MONTH AGO.

Somethings got to change and I don't see anyone else putting anything on the table lol.

 

I've seen the threads that need to be approved, and I'm telling you that a vast majority of them:

1. Are threads that revolve around asking for help and end up being moved to Sythe Support and Help and Requests immediately anyway.
2. Are spam threads from bots that need to be deleted. It feels like they target that forum a little bit more.
3. Are threads that ask questions and promote discussion but there's already a thread almost if not exactly the same as it already.

This. I promise you that without the threads being moderated it'd look like a disgusting mess. I know you can't see what we see but just take our word for it, it's much better this way. Generally, a community moderator gets around to approving the threads once a day anyway, it's not too much to wait.
