Christmas Day:Do you feel guilty?

Hey guys, I am sure you all know the feeling of going downstairs on christmas day and finding a pile of gifts labeled with your name under the tree. The question I want to ask, is do you ever feel slightly guilty, or spoiled, or wish that less money had been spent on you than was really the case. I sometimes feel like this, I was just wondering if anyone else had the same feelings sometimes? It might just be because I don't like to feel well off, or better that someone else, but on the other hand, you guys may feel the same. Post away!

 

Just because people are suffering doesn't mean we shouldn't buy nice things. But doing some kind of charity at Christmas is good. Like, I give all my old stuff to the Salvation Army etc etc

As long as you remember to buy other people stuff. If your getting most of the presents from your parents, then not as much because we're all going to be doing the same thing for our kids.

No, i dont feel guilty at christmas because, if your parents/guardians have the money to spend on you, why cant they? Just because some people in parts of africa and other third world countries cannot afford it, why should you feel guilty?

 

Not really. My parents don't get me anything. they have given me an IOU for the past 3 years and I'm still waiting to collect :laugh:


I don't have money but I'm coming into some if I sell my account and to be honest, I can't wait to get others gifts. I never understood the joys of giving when I was young, only until I was about 16 did I come to enjoy it (even though I'm broke). Joining the military soon and since you can keep most of your checks (If you don't blow on alcohol and women) I'll probably spoil my younger siblings

But I kind of do get how you feel. Just enjoy the gifts you're given. If you're still feeling guilty go down to a homeless vets shelter and help serve food, they love it.

 

I don't care about people that won't impact my life, as blunt as that sounds. I don't really care about Christmas either, but if I can profit from it I guess it doesn't hurt.

I don't feel guilty, I feel like I don't deserve as much as I get sometimes.

 

There is no need to feel guilty that you are more fortunate than others. It's what you do about it is what really matters.

 

I'm fine taking gifts that people have bought me. I usually give out gifts to my friends and family anyways so there's a nice little cycle.

 

I used to feel so guilty because my parents bought me and my brother a lot of stuff, even though we had enough money to buy all that stuff.
Nowadays I just ask my parents for a couple games for my birthday AND christmas present.
I do, however, get stuff throughout the year, but really small things.

 

Yea, Christmas isn't that big of a deal to me anymore. Just some vacation from work and a nice get together of family.

Plus, if I want anything I normally just go out and buy it. (if I can afford it lol)

 

I play in a brass band that usually collecting money from kettles, christmas is a very busy time for me because along with that I have to play concerts and other sorts of fund raising things to help the needy. Not to mention I don't really care about gifts that much

 

I don't really get presents, I just enjoy being around family and the big break.

If someone gives you something it's their choice to give it to you instead of giving it to somebody else.

 

Nope, I have no reason to feel guilty because I don't really get that much but I am happy with what I get because my parents have 4 other kids also XD
